The Plate Boots of the Shadows are a Footwear piece in Crimson Desert. Part of the Shadows equipment set, these boots are among the most powerful footwear in the game. With 16 ATK, 7 DEF, and bonuses to Skill EXP gain and climbing speed, they offer both exceptional combat stats and valuable progression utility. The boots come with built-in Abyss Gear that provides a +10% Skill EXP Gain bonus and a Climb Speed Multiplier of 2.0%.

At 7 DEF, these are the highest-defense footwear in the game. The 16 ATK value is also among the highest for footwear, making these boots exceptional for both offense and defense. The Skill EXP Gain +10% bonus from the built-in Abyss Gear accelerates skill progression, which is valuable throughout the entire playthrough. The Climb Speed Multiplier 2.0% helps with vertical traversal, which is particularly useful in the mountainous Everfrost region and other climbing-heavy areas.
The Plate Boots of the Shadows are found inside Frostclaw Cave, a waterfall cave located north of Scholasta Institute in the Hernand region. The cave is hidden behind a waterfall along the river west of Fort Warspike.
To reach the boots, follow these steps:
Travel to the waterfall: Follow the river west of Fort Warspike until you see a waterfall. The cave entrance is directly behind the falling water.
Use the Stab ability: Stand in front of the waterfall and use Stab (R1 + Triangle on PlayStation, or the equivalent on your platform) to pierce through the waterfall without taking damage. This ability is available by default for all three playable characters. You cannot simply walk or roll through the waterfall.
Open the treasure chest: Inside the cave, you will find a treasure chest containing the Plate Boots of the Shadows.
The treasure chest in Frostclaw Cave also contains a Refined Palmar Pill, a useful healing item. No enemies guard the chest, so this is a completely free pickup.

The Stab ability is required to enter Frostclaw Cave. Make sure you know the input (R1 + Triangle) before heading to the waterfall. You cannot enter the cave without it.
Skill EXP Gain +10% accelerates skill progression, making these boots valuable even after you find higher-defense footwear. Consider keeping them equipped during skill training sessions.
At 7 DEF and 16 ATK, these boots outperform every other footwear option in both offense and defense. They remain competitive throughout the entire game.
