Ogres are furious, fearless warriors capable of incredible violence. They are playable at Early Access launch and can take eight of the eighteen classes.
Ogres were not born into the world in the ordinary sense. They were created by the giants of the Storm Coast to counter the hordes of filth that poured into Eth-ur during the first invasions of the Spiral Lords. That is the whole of their stated purpose, and it is a military one.
The war ended and the makers did not survive it. An unnatural cataclysmic event shattered the Storm Coast and killed the giant elders, which left the ogres both homeless and masterless in a single stroke. Everything the race became afterwards follows from that.
They resettled in the frigid north of the continent of Aêthoril and built a stratified martial civilization there, ruled by warlords. Today they are found across the continent as renowned soldiers, loyal mercenaries and skilled craftsmen. Loyal is the word the official material uses, and it sits deliberately against the fury the same passage describes.
The lore gives ogres an unusually wide range. Their temperament swings from the stillness of a placid sky to the unadulterated fury of a raging tempest, and they vary greatly in both intelligence and disposition. The race is not written as uniformly brutish, and the class list supports that: ogres can be monks, shamans and elementalists as readily as they can be fighters.
None of them fears death, for the stated reason that only the bravest will feast in the Shattered Halls of their elders. The Shattered Halls are named once and never described, and the echo of the shattered Storm Coast in the name is left for the reader to notice.
No physical description of ogres has been published as of September 2026. The race was being modelled and rigged for play as early as mid-2023, alongside the halflings, but development reports record progress rather than description. The 2026 beta patch notes track the model's scale rather than its look: belt items were made 30 percent larger on ogre males in the Beta Pre-Patch (0.20.25.0, February 25, 2026), male ogre weapon size was reduced by 20 percent and ogre hair and beards were updated in Beta Patch 8 (0.27.0.0, August 4, 2026), and the ogre collision size was reduced a little in Beta Patch 10 (0.29.0.0, September 10, 2026).

The frigid north of the continent, which matches the description of the continent's biomes running from frigid northern wastelands down through plains, jungles, forests and deserts. See Aethoril.
Ogres are not among the races given an explicit starting city, so the race, faith and class rule applies. See Starting Cities. There is one related piece of world content: a location named the Pyrmos Ogre Fort was reported in the Sungreet Strand zone during development, although that report dates from 2023 and, as of September 21, 2026, has not been reconfirmed for the launch build.
Eight classes are open to ogres. The list is martial and primal: there is no arcane specialist beyond the Elementalist, no divine class at all, and no Rogue. Ogres are one of only three races that can take the Monk, and one of the few with both the Archer and the Ranger.
Class | Archetype | Group role |
|---|---|---|
High-Mobility Marksman Tinkerer | Ranged damage | |
Animal-Taming Primal Brawler | Melee damage, pet | |
Elemental Binder | Magic damage, pet | |
Armored Juggernaut | Tank, melee damage | |
Perfected Weapon | Melee damage, puller | |
Wilderness Veteran | Melee and ranged damage, utility | |
Antihero Monster Hunter | Tank, melee damage | |
Spirit Caller | Healer, magic damage, support |
The ogre has a documented racial trait. A July and August 2025 progress report added Ogre Smash as an ogre-specific Major Combat Trait, and Beta Patch 4 (0.23.0.0, April 21, 2026) carried a fix to the Ogre Smash ability, which places it in the 2026 beta build. What the ability does has not been described on any developer page as of September 21, 2026. A November and December 2023 progress report listed the Ogre among the seven races limited to the Infravision trait (Dwarf, Gnome, Goblin, High Elf, Ogre, Troll and Wood Elf) and limited Ultravision to the three Deep races; that is a 2023 playtest note and has not been restated in the 2026 patch notes.
As of September 2026, no racial stat block, attribute modifier, resistance value or racial ability list has been published for any race in Monsters & Memories. The official race material is lore plus a class list. The character creation screen in the current beta build does display the maximum value of each stat for the chosen race and class combination (Beta Patch 1, 0.20.26.0, March 10, 2026), so the numbers exist in the game, but as of September 21, 2026 no developer page reproduces them.
The Storm Coast, the giants, the Shattered Halls and the Spiral Lords are each named in a single clause in the ogre entry, and nothing further about any of them has been published.
