News is the opening quest of Chapter 6: Cracks in the Shield in Crimson Desert. A messenger arrives at the Greymane camp with word that Marquis Serkis has requested Kliff's presence. At Hernand Castle, Duke Celeste delivers grim news: Calphade is under full-scale attack by the Black Bears.
Return to the Greymane camp and approach the main tents where your comrades are gathered. A soldier is waiting with a message from Marquis Serkis. Speaking with him triggers a cutscene that explains the urgency of the situation.
Travel to Hernand Castle and head upstairs. Go through the door at the end of the hallway. A final cutscene plays where you learn that the Black Bears have launched a major offensive against Calphade. This revelation sets the stage for the entire chapter, which focuses on the war effort to defend and reclaim Calphadean territory.
Chapter 6 shifts the tone of the game dramatically. The political intrigue and personal quests of Chapter 5 give way to large-scale military conflict. The Black Bears have gone from a background threat to the primary enemy, and the connection between them and Demeniss (revealed in Chapter 5) makes the situation more dire. The Greymanes are drawn into the war not just as mercenaries but as soldiers with a personal stake in the outcome.
This quest is purely cutscenes and dialogue. Use the time before starting it to buy supplies, upgrade equipment, and finish any remaining side content in Hernand.
Chapter 6 features extended battlefield sequences. Bring plenty of Grilled Meat (100+ recommended) before advancing.
Save your progress before starting this quest, especially if you are playing on a higher difficulty setting.
Battlefield quests benefit from ranged weapon options. Consider equipping a bow or hand cannon for the opening phases of large-scale encounters.
This is the first quest in a 3-quest chain. Make sure you are ready to commit to the full arc, as some later quests in the sequence may lock you into extended story sequences.
