Morning Fog is the opening quest of the Six Pensive Statues and the Evil Spirit sub-chapter in Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert. After proving himself against T'rukan, Kliff is directed to Jijeong Temple, a sacred site within the Serpent Marsh where six ancient pensive statues guard the path to deeper enlightenment. The morning fog that blankets the marsh creates limited visibility as Kliff navigates toward the temple entrance for the first time.

Quest Type | Exploration / Cutscene |
Prerequisite | |
Rewards | Jijeong Temple waypoint, Abyss Nexus and Cresset access |
Follow the path toward Jijeong Temple through the fog-covered marsh
Activate the Abyss Nexus near the Serpent Marsh entrance
Reach Jijeong Temple and speak with the Chief Monk at the entrance
Watch the cutscene introducing the six pensive statues
After the cutscene with the Cloister monks, follow the quest marker southeast into the Serpent Marsh. The fog is purely atmospheric and does not affect combat, but it does limit your visibility to roughly 30 meters. Stick to the marked path to avoid wandering into the swamp.
Along the way, you will encounter an Abyss Nexus (fast travel point) and an Abyss Cresset. Activate both before proceeding. The Cresset here is already open, so no puzzle is required.
At Jijeong Temple, the Chief Monk introduces the six pensive statues and explains their spiritual significance. This is primarily a story sequence with no combat. After the dialogue, the next quest (Jijeong Temple in Chaos) begins automatically.
Before heading to Jijeong Temple, unlock both waypoints (the Abyss Nexus and the Abyss Cresset). These become essential for backtracking during later quests in this sub-chapter.
The Serpent Marsh has several gathering nodes along the route. Collect herbs and minerals on your way through since some are unique to this region.
There is no combat in this quest, so you can safely explore the fog-covered area without preparation.
