Marni's Mechahorse
April 29, 2026 at 03:47 PM
Comprehensive rewrite covering acquisition, abilities, limitations, and Patch 1.04 fixes (2026-04-29)
Marni's Mechahorse is a special non-horse mount in Crimson Desert produced by the Marni research line. It spawns outside the south gate of the City of Delesyia and must be acquired through theft because the game treats mounting it as a crime. The Mechahorse offers several abilities no standard horse has, but it carries strict limitations that prevent it from replacing a real horse for combat or stable storage.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Special mount (non-horse, non-summonable) |
Acquisition | Theft using a Mask |
Spawn location | Outside the south gate of the City of Delesyia, in the Eastern Hills region. |
Stamina drain (riding) | None during normal riding |
Riders | Two (player plus passenger) |
Combat | Cannot fight alongside the player |
Armor | Cannot equip armor |
Stable storage | Cannot be stored |
Travel to the south gate of the City of Delesyia in the Eastern Hills region.
Equip a Mask. The game treats mounting the Mechahorse as theft, so attempting it bare-faced triggers a bounty.
Approach the Mechahorse and press the interaction input. NPCs are watching it, but they will not stop the theft when a mask is worn.
Ride away. The Mechahorse is yours to use until the next time the steal sequence resets it.
No stamina drain during normal riding. The Mechahorse moves at a steady pace without consuming the rider's or the mount's stamina pool, which makes it the most reliable open-world traversal option for long unbroken trips.
Two-rider seating. A second player or NPC companion can ride along, which is rare among Crimson Desert mounts and useful for escorting NPCs across distances.
Swims through water. The Mechahorse can cross bodies of water that ordinary horses cannot. The mount has been observed to enter underwater portions of bodies of water as well, but this is widely considered a bug rather than intended behavior and Pearl Abyss may patch it out in a future update.
No combat. Unlike standard horses, the Mechahorse does not have rideable combat actions and does not engage enemies alongside the rider.
No armor slots. Mount armor and barding cannot be applied to the Mechahorse. Neither the launch saddle system nor the planned non-horse mount armor track in the Mount Armor roadmap currently covers it.
Not stable-storable. The Mechahorse cannot be stored at a stable, so the player keeps it as a working ride rather than parking it for later.
Steal-only. There is no purchase, quest, or breed path. Re-acquisition runs through the same theft sequence at the south gate of Delesyia.
Sprinting and swimming actions now work while mounted on the Mechahorse. Before Patch 1.04.00 several mounted actions did not work correctly, including sprint and several swim animations.
The fix is part of the broader 1.04 mount overhaul that also restored the Cloudcart as a permanent summonable mount and fixed Blackstar's post-defeat behavior.
Use it for cross-map travel. The no-stamina-drain ability turns long expeditions across Pywel into single-trip jobs without rest stops.
Watch the bounty meter. The first theft is unavoidable, but extended Mechahorse use in heavily patrolled zones can compound into a wanted status if NPCs catch a glimpse without the mask.
Swap to a stable horse for combat. The Mechahorse cannot fight, so dismount and switch to a registered horse for any encounter that does not allow the player to outrun the threat.
Reload the spawn if it disappears. If the Mechahorse fails to spawn at the south gate after a fast travel, reload the area or wait through a day cycle to refresh the spawn.
