Overview
Double Jump is one of the most useful traversal abilities in Crimson Desert. It lets you perform an extra jump in mid-air, which opens up new climbing routes, shortcuts, and combat options. This guide explains how to unlock it and how to use it effectively.
Who Needs to Unlock It?
Character | Status |
|---|---|
Kliff | Must be unlocked (Skill Tree or Watch and Learn) |
Damiane | Unlocked by default |
Oongka | Unlocked by default |
Since Kliff is the character you play for most of the game, unlocking Double Jump for him early is highly recommended.
Method 1: Skill Tree (Recommended)
The quickest and most reliable approach is to purchase it directly from the Spirit (Green) skill tree:
Open the Skill Tree menu.
Navigate to the Spirit branch (the green section on the left side).
Locate the Double Jump node and unlock it for 1 Abyss Artifact.
The skill can be easy to miss because it is tucked away in the Spirit tree rather than the more commonly browsed combat branches. It is well worth the single Abyss Artifact investment.
Method 2: Watch and Learn (Free)
Crimson Desert's Watch and Learn system lets you pick up certain skills by observing NPCs or enemies performing them. If you want to save your Abyss Artifacts for other upgrades, keep an eye out for characters performing a double jump during your travels. When you spot one, watch the move carefully without getting hit. A progress indicator will fill, and once complete, the skill unlocks for free.
This method requires patience since you need to find an NPC performing the move and stay focused long enough to complete the observation.
Controls
Platform | Input |
|---|---|
PlayStation | Press X twice |
Xbox | Press A twice |
PC (Keyboard) | Press Space twice |
The key to a successful double jump is timing. Press the jump button the second time at the peak of your first jump, just before you start falling. Pressing too early or too late will waste the input.
Spirit Cost
Each double jump consumes 5 Spirit. Spirit regenerates over time, and you can instantly restore it by pressing L3 + R3 simultaneously. Keep an eye on your Spirit bar during extended climbing sessions.
Practical Uses
Reaching higher ledges: combine Double Jump with wall climbing to access areas that would otherwise require a long detour.
Scaling walls with Force Palm: use Double Jump followed by three consecutive Force Palm strikes mid-air to reach extremely high surfaces.
Dodging in combat: the extra airtime gives you an additional evasion window against ground-based attacks.
Shortcutting terrain: jump across gaps and skip winding paths.
Tips
Invest in Stamina and Spirit stat upgrades early to make the most of Double Jump's mobility.
Double Jump is not required to finish the main story, but it makes exploration significantly more convenient. The game also offers Gliding and climbing as alternative traversal methods.
Combine Double Jump with the skydiving mechanic (press R3 on the world map) to cover large distances quickly by diving from elevated fast travel points.
