How to Craft Equipment
March 24, 2026 at 04:12 AM
Initial version covering equipment crafting system
Crafting equipment in Crimson Desert lets you create weapons, armor, arrows, and tools from raw materials. All crafting is done at workshops run by NPCs in Hernand and other settlements. No currency is needed to craft; you only need the right materials and recipe.
Visit a smithy, equipment shop, or tailor shop to hand over your materials and have the NPC craft the item for you. The main smithy in Hernand City is available early in the game. Additional workshops become accessible as you explore more of Pywel.
Most recipes are locked behind Crafting Manuals, which are scrolls and books scattered across the world. When you find a manual, the recipe is automatically added to your Knowledge menu. Manuals can also come from quest rewards, vendor purchases, and enemy drops.
Once you have the manual and the required materials, speak to the appropriate workshop NPC, select the recipe, and confirm the craft.
Timber and Fine Timber come from logging trees.
Ores like Iron and Copper come from mining mineral deposits with a Pickaxe.
Hides and bones come from skinning animals after defeating them.
Common materials and components drop from defeated enemies.
Beyond crafting, you can upgrade gear through the Refinement system at any blacksmith. Select the Refinement option, choose a piece of equipment, and provide the required upgrade materials. Higher refinement levels require rarer resources and Abyss Artifacts.
Read every manual you find. The recipe unlocks permanently once read, so the physical scroll can be discarded or sold.
Stockpile basic materials early. Timber, Iron Ore, and animal hides are needed for a large number of recipes.
Check vendor inventories. Some workshops sell advanced manuals that are hard to find in the open world.
