Hemon Beindel (also referred to as Heman) is a boss character in Crimson Desert who occupies Fort Hellwood, a fortified encampment near the town of Senia. He commands a force of hostile soldiers and is fought as part of The Rabid Hound of Hellwood quest, which is a House Celeste faction quest under their Outlaws and Monsters category. Defeating Hemon Beindel rewards the player with The Hound, a powerful two-handed greatsword, along with a skill point and an Abyss Artifact.
Fort Hellwood is a fortified position located on a hill near the town of Senia in the Hernand Region. Senia itself is a village built around a cathedral perched atop a cliff, known for its connection to Saint Senia and the Solumen faith. Fort Hellwood sits on the outskirts, accessible by a winding path up the hill that passes through two fortified gates, each guarded by Hemon's soldiers.
To reach Hemon Beindel's camp at the top of the hill, players must fight through waves of enemies on the ascent. Hemon himself attacks the player twice during the climb before the final confrontation at the summit. An elevator mechanism near the top provides access to the boss camp, where the final battle takes place.
The quest to fight Hemon Beindel does not become available until several conditions are met. Players must have progressed to at least Chapter 4 of the main story and completed a number of faction quest lines in the Hernand Region.

The full quest sequence leading to the Hemon Beindel fight involves multiple steps that take the player from the town of Senia to the summit of Fort Hellwood.
Before The Rabid Hound of Hellwood becomes available, players must complete the "Finding the Relic" quest. This quest involves defending the town of Senia from hostile forces and retrieving the Reliquary of Saint Senia. After successfully defending the town, speak with the monks at the Senia cathedral. Uriel, one of the key NPCs, provides direction toward Fort Hellwood and the threat that Hemon Beindel poses to the region.
Begin the ascent up the hill toward Fort Hellwood. The path is heavily guarded, with enemy soldiers stationed along the route and at two fortified gates.
Hemon Beindel attacks the player twice during the climb. These are not full boss encounters but rather ambush-style skirmishes that force you to deal with him briefly before he retreats higher up the hill.
Clear the enemies at each gate to proceed. Use the terrain to your advantage and avoid being surrounded by large groups.
Near the top of the hill, an elevator provides access to Hemon's main camp. Ride it up to reach the boss arena.
Defeat Hemon Beindel in the final battle at the summit to complete the quest.
Hemon Beindel fights alongside allied soldiers during the boss encounter. This makes the fight a mix of crowd management and focused boss damage. The allies are not just window dressing; they actively attack and can interrupt the player's combos if ignored.
Allied soldiers: Hemon fights with a group of allies. While these soldiers are weaker individually, they can overwhelm you if you focus exclusively on Hemon. Use AoE attacks to thin the crowd, and take advantage of the allies for spirit generation. Killing weaker enemies fills your spirit gauge, which you can then spend on powerful abilities against the boss.
Parry vulnerability: Hemon Beindel is notably vulnerable to parrying. His attacks have readable wind-ups that give you clear windows to time your parries. Successfully parrying his strikes staggers him and opens a window for heavy counterattacks.
Focus mode parrying: Using focus mode (slow-motion parry timing) is especially effective against Hemon. His heavier attacks deal significant damage if they connect, but focus mode parrying turns those moments into opportunities for large counter-damage.
Positioning: Keep moving during the fight. Standing still allows Hemon's allies to surround you. Circle around the arena, pick off isolated soldiers, and engage Hemon when you have clear space.
Start the fight by thinning the allied soldiers using AoE weapons or abilities. Each kill builds your spirit gauge, giving you resources for your strongest attacks. Once the crowd is manageable, switch your attention to Hemon. Watch for his attack patterns and use parries to create safe damage windows. A weapon with good AoE reach, such as a greatsword or spear, works well for handling both the adds and the boss.
Reward | Details |
|---|---|
Two-handed greatsword with the Hound's Claws abyss gear. Features an AoE sweep attack that replaces the default R1+X spinning attack. | |
Skill Point | One skill point awarded upon quest completion. |
An Abyss Artifact is found in the camp after defeating Hemon. | |
Camp Valuables | Various loot and valuables are scattered throughout the Fort Hellwood camp. Explore thoroughly after the fight before leaving. |
After defeating Hemon Beindel and collecting the rewards from the camp, players must grab the relic and carry it back to the Senia cathedral to complete the overarching quest. The return trip is straightforward, retracing the path down the hill and back to the town of Senia where the monks await.
Completing this quest chain also contributes to your reputation with House Celeste and advances the faction's storyline in the Hernand Region. It is considered one of the more rewarding side quest chains available during Chapter 4 due to the combination of a unique weapon, a skill point, and an Abyss Artifact.
