The Crane Puzzle appears during the Sealed in Stone faction quest, which is part of the House Roberts questline (Estate in Dismay). Players must operate a crane to extract a buried relic from the ground at Karin Quarry in Hernand. Completing the extraction also reveals a hidden underground area with additional rewards.
You must be on the Sealed in Stone quest within the Estate in Dismay faction questline.
The previous quest, Stolen Quarry, must be completed first. This involves defeating the boss Marni's Excavatron.
Speak with Erich at Karin Quarry to receive the extraction objective.
Karin Quarry, Hernand. The crane control room is accessed via an elevator during the quest. The elevator takes you to a platform overlooking the quarry floor where the buried relic is visible as a light gray cube embedded in the ground.
Use the elevator at the quarry to reach the crane control room on the upper platform.
Interact with the crane controls wheel by the window to take control of the crane.
Use the D-pad to position the crane hook directly over the light gray cube buried in the center of the ground below.
Allow one claw to clamp down on one side of the relic first. This makes it easier to adjust the second claw to grip the opposite side.
Once both claws are properly aligned, the crane will automatically lock onto the relic with a loud sound effect and a camera angle shift confirming the attachment.
Press Up on the D-pad to pull the relic out of the stone. The extraction completes the Sealed in Stone quest objective.
After extracting the relic, a hole opens in the quarry floor where the relic was embedded. Drop down into this hidden underground area to find additional content. Inside the cave, you will encounter turrets. There is a breakable wall on the left side of the cave. To destroy it, enter Focus mode and charge a force attack at the energy source powering the wall. Behind the wall lies a hidden chamber.
Note that the breakable wall requires the Focused Force Palm skill, which is learned in Chapter 4. If you complete the Sealed in Stone quest before Chapter 4, you can return to the hidden area later once you have the skill.
The crane controls can feel sluggish. Be patient and make small adjustments with the D-pad until the hook is positioned correctly.
Focus on clamping one side at a time rather than trying to grab the entire relic at once.
After the extraction, do not leave the quarry immediately. The hidden underground area contains valuable rewards.
If you do not have Focused Force Palm when you first complete this quest, make a note to return to Karin Quarry after learning it in Chapter 4.
