Obtaining the Core of Mortification

The Core of Mortification is awarded for cleansing a specific sanctum during Chapter 9 of the main story. Because it is tied to a main-story beat rather than a repeatable activity, this is a one-per-character drop. Missing the cleanse in Chapter 9 means you cannot pick the core up again later.

Crafting Use

The core is a required crafting material for the Kuku Gardening Pack. Because the pack is one of the most useful quality-of-life items in the game for gathering, hang onto the core the moment it drops rather than selling or dumping it. Pair it with a Kuku Pup, a Peddler's Pack, five Abyss Cells, and an Ore of Recepissance to complete the craft at the Kiln Den Workshop.
