Overview

Blue Jay is a bird species found in Crimson Desert. A striking blue bird known for its unique habit of hiding acorns to eat later. It can bury up to 5,000 acorns in a year, relying on its keen spatial memory to recover these hidden treasures.

Taming the Blue Jay

The Blue Jay was added to the tameable pet roster in Patch 1.04.00. Capturing one uses the Sotdae of Bond, the bird-feeder item awarded through the Pororin faction quest line. Once tamed, the Blue Jay perches on the player's shoulder during exploration, in line with the other small bird companions.

Where to Place the Feeder

Blue Jays are reliable spawns at cliff edges and elevated open ground throughout Pywel. The cliffside at the Greymane Camp is one of the easiest early-game placements because the camp itself is safe and the same flock pulls in pigeons, sparrows, and crows alongside the Blue Jay. Place the Sotdae of Bond on the cliff edge and step back so the flock can settle on the bait without being spooked.

Food and Trust

As a small bird, the Blue Jay accepts grains, fruits, and insects rather than meat. Barley is a strong default option for grain bait; bugs caught with the Kuku Insect Gatherer's Pack or hand-picked from the environment work as well. Each accepted feed raises trust by roughly 25 points; refill the feeder and wait the usual two to six minutes per landing until trust reaches the cap, then approach the bird and confirm the take prompt to register it as a pet.
