Overview

Ancient Rift is a canyon location in Crimson Desert, situated in the Hernand region near the town of Pailune. It is characterized by dramatic columnar joint formations carved by powerful waterfalls over eons. The rift is a popular exploration destination due to its hidden treasure, including the unique Vaporwalker boots.

Legend

According to local legend, the terrain fractured when two ancient giants engaged in a fierce struggle, pressing their hands together in a test of strength. Whether this myth reflects actual historical events or is simply a way for the people of Pywel to explain the dramatic geological features, the story adds a layer of mystery to this already imposing landscape.

Geography

The columnar joint formations created by centuries of waterfall erosion give the Ancient Rift its distinctive appearance. The sheer canyon walls and flowing water create a dramatic setting that stands out among the many varied landscapes of Pywel. The area features multiple levels of terrain connected by climbable surfaces and ledges, along with at least two prominent waterfalls.

Players exploring this area should be prepared for the challenging terrain, including vertical surfaces, water crossings, and hidden caves behind the waterfalls.

Points of Interest

Vaporwalker Boots

The most notable hidden treasure in the Ancient Rift is the Vaporwalker boots, found in a cave behind one of the waterfalls. To reach them:

Locate the two waterfalls in the rift.
Descend to the left side of the waterfall, dropping down one level (do not jump to the bottom).
Look for stacked rocks as a landmark confirming you are on the correct ledge.
Use the Stab ability to dash through the waterfall into the hidden cave.
Break the stone wall inside with Force Palm.
Open the golden chest to obtain the Vaporwalker boots.

Ancient's Heart Cave

The Ancient Rift area also contains the Ancient's Heart Cave, a natural cave system used for mining ore and gathering materials. The cave is located southeast of the rift, opposite the Ancient Ruins, and is one of the closest mining locations to the Grey Mane Camp.
