Champrons boost your horse's Attack stat, making mounted combat more effective.
Pair champrons with matching barding and stirrups from the same set for a complete look.
Champrons occupy one of five horse equipment slots: Champron, Barding, Saddle, Stirrups, and Horseshoe. Each slot provides a different stat benefit:
Champron increases Attack
Barding increases Defense
Saddle increases maximum Health
Horseshoe adds Health regeneration
Stirrups add Stamina regeneration
During mounted combat, the horse itself does not contribute offensive actions. Instead, the rider attacks from horseback using the elevation and mobility advantage. The champron's Attack bonus directly increases the damage dealt during these mounted strikes, making it one of the most impactful mount gear slots for combat-focused players.
Champrons are purchased from Saddlery vendors found in major settlements across Pywel:
Annabella's Saddlery (northeast of Hernand) sells basic and intermediate gear including the Hernandian Champron
Bruna's Saddlery (Equinsher) specializes in mid-tier equipment focused on comfort for horse and rider
Eldred's Saddlery (north of Pailune) carries advanced gear including the Berkei Champron
Fiona's Saddlery (north of Demeniss Castle) offers Demenissian-line equipment
Each settlement's saddlery offers horse equipment that matches the region's aesthetic. Players can mix and match pieces from different settlements for unique combinations. More items may unlock as you reach maximum trust with a merchant.
Champrons are organized into five rarity tiers, each providing a fixed Attack bonus:
Common (+3 Attack): Sahareum Champron
Uncommon (+5 Attack): Blue Scout, Demenissian, Exclaire, Hyperion, Purple Scout, Varken, Varnian
Rare (+7 Attack): Hernandian, Rosbar, Velok
Epic (+10 Attack): Berkei, Wells Military
All champrons can be refined up to +10 at a blacksmith. Refinement permanently increases the base Attack stat and costs only raw materials (no silver). Levels 1 through 4 require common ores (Iron Ore, Copper Ore) and Thin Hide, while levels 5 and above additionally require Abyss Artifacts. The material quantity increases with each level, with level 10 demanding dozens of rare materials.
A practical early-game strategy is to refine your champron to +4 and stop there, preserving Abyss Artifacts for critical skill tree unlocks. Later in the game, when Abyss Artifacts are more plentiful, pushing to +10 on a Legendary champron yields the maximum possible mounted Attack bonus.
Two champrons are obtained through promotional events rather than in-game vendors:
Blue Scout Champron is earned through Twitch Drops (Week 2, 2 hours of watch time)
Exclaire Champron is included with the Crimson Desert Deluxe Edition
The Purple Scout Champron is also a promotional item from limited-time Twitch Drops events.
