Luminoa is the setting of Bloomwalker, the crafting adventure in development at Netmarble Neo. The name first appeared on the game's store pages and in the Tokyo Game Show 2026 announcements in September 2026; the 2025 reveal, when the game was still called Project Bloomwalker, did not give the world a name. Japanese material writes it as ルミノア. Everything known about Luminoa as of September 2026 comes from short store descriptions and press releases, so this page sticks to what those texts say.

The 2026 store and press copy describes Luminoa as a land that was once shared by people and the spirits of nature. Its sanctuaries have since been ravaged by pollution. The guardians who once protected those sanctuaries have succumbed to madness and become incarnations of the pollution, and even the nature spirits known as higgledies are under threat.
The PlayStation Store listing frames the same situation slightly differently: the world's cycle has been broken, pollution is spreading everywhere, and the guardians of nature are losing their strength. The Korean and Japanese store text uses this second framing. Both versions are official, and as of September 2026 neither gives a cause for the pollution.
The player arrives in Luminoa as a traveler aboard a Moving House, with the aim of restoring the land. The protagonist is not named in any official material. Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 feature summed up the goal as restoring Luminoa's sanctuaries and freeing its guardians.
The Steam store page describes moving the house from sanctuary to sanctuary and stopping at resource-rich anchorages to explore the surrounding lands. No sanctuary had been named as of September 2026, and no source gives a count.
The guardians are the sanctuaries' former protectors. Netmarble's September 2026 press release says they were driven into madness and became manifestations of corruption. Xbox's feature talks about freeing them, and describes the game's approach as cleansing what stands in the player's way instead of destroying it (see Cleansing and Purification). No individual guardian had been named as of September 2026, and how these encounters play out has not been described.
Luminoa has villages that need rebuilding. The PlayStation Store listing says the results of crafting can be used to rebuild villages in need and gather scattered residents back together, and the Steam page mentions crafted tools for restoring villages and housing. Neither names a village or a resident, and as of September 2026 no official text says who the residents are.

The higgledies are Luminoa's nature spirits. Official copy says their numbers grow as the world is restored, and that the player can bring them back to the moving house, where they help out. The other companions named in 2026 material, the familiars, are described as versatile artisans the player meets along the way.
When the game was announced as Project Bloomwalker at gamescom 2025, Netmarble's announcement described a different starting point. A mysterious meteor crashed into a once-beautiful land shared by humans and mysterious spirits, leaving an impact site so polluted that nothing could live there. Beings called Bloomwalkers then appeared with the power to restore life, and the player took the role of one of them. Netmarble's Korean release added that the first trailer opened with the meteor falling.
The 2026 store pages and press releases do not mention the meteor, and they call the player a traveler rather than a Bloomwalker. No official text says the meteor premise was dropped, so it should be read as how the 2025 announcement described the story, not as confirmed for the finished game.
Element | 2025 announcement | 2026 store and press copy |
|---|---|---|
World name | Not given | Luminoa |
Cause of the pollution | A meteor strike | Not stated; the sanctuaries are ravaged by pollution and the world's cycle is broken |
Player's role | A Bloomwalker | A traveler arriving aboard a moving house |
Spirits | Mysterious spirits; small companions called Oddlings | Nature spirits called higgledies |
Threats | Intruders and hostile creatures | Guardians turned into incarnations of pollution |
The 2025 reveal called the small spirit companions Oddlings; 2026 material calls them higgledies. No source has described this as a rename.
Netmarble's 2025 announcement says Bloomwalker translates to "one who walks while blooming flowers". In a gamescom 2025 interview, Netmarble Neo planning team lead Park Ki-bin said the name came from picturing new life and flowers appearing on purified ground with every step of the moving house.
As of September 2026, official material had not named any sanctuary, guardian, village, resident or region, and had not shown a map or said how large the world is. Netmarble describes Bloomwalker as based on the Ni no Kuni IP, but no official text says how Luminoa relates to the settings of other Ni no Kuni games or where it sits in that series. The publisher's statements on that connection are collected in Development History.
