Premise
The current description, from the store pages that opened in September 2026 and Xbox's September 2026 feature, sets the game in Luminoa, a land once shared by people and the spirits of nature. Pollution has ravaged Luminoa's sanctuaries, and the guardians who once protected them have gone mad and become incarnations of that pollution. Even the nature spirits called higgledies are under threat. The player is a traveler who arrives aboard a moving house to restore the land, rebuild villages and bring scattered residents back together.
The 2025 announcement described a different starting point. In that version a mysterious meteor crashes into a once-beautiful land shared by humans and spirits, leaving an impact site so polluted that nothing can live there, and beings called Bloomwalkers appear with the power to restore life. The player took the role of one of them. Neither the meteor nor the Bloomwalker role appears in the 2026 store and press copy, which calls the protagonist a traveler, and no official text says the earlier premise was dropped.
Netmarble explained the title in 2025 as meaning one who walks while making flowers bloom. Park Ki-bin, planning team lead at Netmarble Neo, said in a gamescom 2025 interview that the name came from picturing flowers growing on purified ground with each step the moving house takes. The protagonist is not named in any official material.
Core Loop
The store pages describe a loop built around travel, cleansing and shared crafting. The house carries the player between sanctuaries and grows as it gains new functions. A door inside it opens onto the Pocket Dimension, a separate space for buildings, facilities and decoration. Familiars hand over formulas and facilities as the player befriends them, higgledies gather the materials, and Crafting turns those materials into tools, housing and gifts. Purification tools then restore tainted land, plants and animals, which the game covers under Cleansing and Purification.

System | What Is Known |
|---|---|
A house that travels with the player and serves as their base. It travels from sanctuary to sanctuary, stops at resource-rich anchorages, and changes appearance as it gains new functions; research with gathered materials upgrades it. | |
A self-contained space behind a door inside the house, where the player constructs buildings, arranges facilities and decorates. First shown in September 2026. | |
Artisan companions, each with their own stories. Befriending them through conversation and gifts unlocks new formulas and facilities. | |
Small nature spirits whose numbers grow as the world recovers. They gather and deliver materials and live in the Pocket Dimension. | |
Facilities unlocked by familiars process the materials higgledies gather into tools for restoring villages, housing and gifts. | |
Player-made purification tools restore tainted land, plants and animals, and cleansed areas reveal resources that were hidden. |
Netmarble's 2025 materials and the developers' interviews framed the game around healing the world rather than surviving in it, and the 2026 copy keeps that emphasis. The 2025 materials mentioned encounters with hostile creatures and intruders, while Xbox's September 2026 feature describes cleansing what stands in the player's way instead of destroying it. No guardian or boss had been named in any source as of September 2026.
Co-op
The Steam store page lists online co-op, and the PlayStation Store listing gives a maximum of four online players with PlayStation Plus. The Xbox Store listing showed only single-player as of September 2026. In 2025 the developers said they planned co-op that would let friends decorate homes and explore together. The store listings and their differences are covered on Multiplayer and Co-op.
Platforms and Release Status
Store pages opened for wishlisting on Steam, the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store on September 17, 2026. On PC the game is listed on Steam (Windows only) and the Microsoft Store, and Xbox Play Anywhere covers the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC versions. The official trailer descriptions add PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Some press reports also listed the original Nintendo Switch, but no Netmarble release or official trailer description named it as of September 2026. No release date, window or price had been announced by then. Steam lists 13 supported languages, with full audio in English and Japanese. Store details, languages and system requirements are on Release Date and Platforms.
Ni no Kuni Connection
Netmarble's September 2026 announcement describes Bloomwalker as based on the Ni no Kuni IP, and Xbox called it officially part of the Ni no Kuni universe during its Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast. The Steam and PlayStation Store pages and Netmarble's September 2026 press releases carry a Level-5 copyright notice next to the Netmarble and Netmarble Neo notices. The 2025 English announcements did not mention Ni no Kuni and carried only the Netmarble notices. A Netmarble Korea release from August 2025 said staff who worked on Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds are involved in the game's development.
As of September 2026, no source stated what role Level-5 plays in development, and Netmarble had not said how Bloomwalker relates to earlier Ni no Kuni games. This wiki describes only what has been shown for Bloomwalker itself.
Development
Netmarble revealed Project Bloomwalker on August 20, 2025 during the Xbox @ gamescom 2025 Broadcast, with a five-minute developer walkthrough of the game running in Unreal Engine 5. Visitors to gamescom 2025 in Cologne could play a demo of about 15 minutes at the Xbox booth from August 20 to 24; it ran on PC and in English only. As of September 2026, that booth demo was the only hands-on access the game had had.
On September 17, 2026 the game returned in Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast under the name Bloomwalker, with a new trailer that gave the first look at the Pocket Dimension, the Ni no Kuni description and the opening of store pages. Netmarble lists Lineage 2: Revolution, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds and Solo Leveling: ARISE among Netmarble Neo's earlier games. The full timeline is on Development History.

The 2025 reveal called the small spirit companions Oddlings; 2026 material calls them higgledies. Both are small spirits that carry materials and live with the player, but Netmarble had not announced a rename as of September 2026, so details from the 2025 demo are treated on this wiki as belonging to that build.
