Shrines are discoverable points of interest scattered throughout No Man's Land. When a player finds one, they can make an offering to receive a blessing that lasts for the remainder of the current run. The blessing is random. You might get something that helps your build, or something less relevant. The randomness adds a roguelite element to each mission.
Several in-game religions exist in the world of Blight: Survival. Each religion is associated with different types of blessings. The specific religions and their associated blessing pools haven't been fully detailed, but the system works similarly to the boon system in Hades, where temporary power-ups are acquired at specific points during a run and stack to create builds that change each playthrough.
Finding a shrine during a run creates a decision point. Do you use your limited resources to make an offering, hoping for a useful blessing? Or do you save those resources for crafting back at the camp? The answer depends on how the run is going, what blessings you've already received, and how deep into the mission you are.
In co-op, shrines add group coordination. A blessing that boosts one playstyle might benefit one team member more than another, creating informal negotiation over who gets which shrine. Or the team might decide everyone should take what they can get, trusting the randomness to help the group overall.
