Replaced the blanket no-reward entry with the narrower and accurate statement that the fight grants no new Blade Art or Bloom Art
11Crimson Malefact is the fight where the game takes Koo away. It is a single level 45 encounter in Chapter 9, set in the river zone of the Wasteland Region, and Emma faces it without any Bloom Arts, support skills, or companion damage. It is also one of the few story bosses that hands out no new Blade Art or Bloom Art, which makes it a pure skill check rather than a progression gate.2233Encounter Summary445-DetailValueChapterChapter 9Level45RegionWasteland RegionLocationThe river zone, written as both Inumaki River Zone and Inukami River ZoneCompanionKoo does not participatePhasesTwo, with the second triggered by a cutscene around half healthSkill rewardNone5+DetailValueChapterChapter 9Level45RegionWasteland RegionLocationThe river zone, written as both Inumaki River Zone and Inukami River ZoneCompanionKoo does not participatePhasesTwo, with the second triggered by a cutscene around half healthSkill rewardNo new Blade Art or Bloom Art66Crimson Malefact has no confirmed elemental weakness, and the fight does not hinge on finding one. Poison buildup is what reliably works, so the Hunter's Sword and a full stock of poison arrows and bolts are the standard preparation.7788Attack Patterns991010AttackHow It WorksResponseBiteRears up and lunges into a single bite.Parry to stagger, then land a short punish.Bite ComboRaises its head into a three-hit bite chain.Parry all three. Counterattacking after the first or second bite gets Emma caught.SomersaultLowers its head, flashes red, then somersaults forward.Unparryable. Dodge on the flash. It stays vulnerable on landing.Four Attacks Into SomersaultRoars, glows red, then chains two bites, two claw swipes, and a somersault.Parry the first four hits, dodge the finisher. There is no safe window inside the chain.Ground SwipeIts front leg glows red before it tears rocks loose and throws them.Unparryable. Dodge and reposition.Bite Into Jump BackLunges into a bite and immediately leaps away.Parry early rather than on reaction, then use ranged damage while it is out.Spinning DiveGlows red, leaps high, and crashes down with a spin that leaves spikes.Unparryable. Dodge to either side.Tail Slam BloomSlams its tail so a red marker tracks Emma, then erupts a giant spider lily there.Keep moving until the marker clears, then punish while it is stationary.Rapid Seed BarrageFires a fast barrage of seeds from range.Too fast to parry reliably. Keep dodging until it ends.Tail RootsDrives its tail into the ground so vines bloom under Emma after a delay.Watch the ground indicators and keep moving.Tail VinesSecond phase. The vines pull Emma toward the boss on hit.Sprint clear as soon as the vines start emerging.1111How to Beat Crimson Malefact12121313Build for survival first. High-defence armour, a full stock of poison arrows and bolts, and a weapon that applies poison give Emma a damage source that keeps working while she is stuck on defence. Spring Storm is a strong alternative if it is already upgraded, and Purity is the pick when sustain matters more than raw output.14141515The second phase starts with a short cutscene and adds several tracking area attacks that borrow from Koo's own flower skills. Fight it at range where possible, respect the red markers, and spend Entanglement Overdrive after a full combo rather than in the middle of one.16161717Related Pages18181919Crimson Malefact is one of two named Malefact bosses in the story alongside Nue Malefact.
