Created Wellspring article covering the settlement landmark and its cultural role
A Wellspring is a large tree growing inside a small pool of water at the center of a settlement. Wellsprings are the cultural and ceremonial heart of each town in Alabaster Dawn: they predate the Calamity and they are among the first elements restored when a Nuemera-cleansed village comes back into use.
In-world, Wellsprings are sacred ground. The pool around the tree is treated as a connection to nature, and villagers gather near the Wellspring for community moments such as the festival sequences in Lyhamn. Each settlement seems to have a designated Wellspring location, and rebuilding includes returning a tree-and-pool to that spot.
The launch build's only fully visible Wellspring is in Lyhamn Center. Additional settlements visible in dev footage and in the timeskip cutscenes also include Wellsprings, suggesting that the landmark will repeat throughout the planned regions of Tiran Sol.
Wellsprings do not have a direct gameplay function in the launch build. Rest in Lyhamn happens at the cooking pot in Lyhamn Center rather than at the Wellspring. The Wellspring's role is currently visual and narrative; later content may attach systems (such as fast travel between Wellsprings, or seasonal events) to them, but those tie-ins are not yet in the build.
