Rana

Created Rana article with combat breakdown and Aether Aspect Panel synergy
The Rana is an enemy in Alabaster Dawn. It is a frog-like Nuemera with a rubbery-looking purple body.
Ranas are encountered twice during the Trial of Aether.
Type | Encountered | Level | HP | EXP at level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Rana | 8 | 320 | 14 |
Ranas are weak to Aether but resistant to other elements. The first Rana encountered is therefore difficult to damage with a Physis loadout, but later Ranas are placed near an Aether Aspect Panel, which converts attacks to Aether and trivializes the matchup.
They alternate between two attacks:
Aether orb: shoots a large slow-moving Aether orb at Juno. The orb homes on her position and lasts a long time, but standard attacks can destroy it before contact.
Sky slam: flies high into the air and slowly floats toward Juno. On reaching her, or after enough time, it slams down to the ground in a large Aether explosion.
Ranas do not have a Break Bar, so the usual break-damage shortcut does not apply. They have to be killed through HP.
Use an Aether Aspect Panel whenever one is in the room; the elemental conversion is the cleanest way to push damage.
During the sky slam wind-up, sprint sideways instead of dodging. The slow float-down lets the AOE catch a panicked dash but not a steady run.
Kill the Aether orb mid-flight with Bogha Solas. A Pierce shot pops the orb cleanly and frees Juno to commit to the next Rana attack.
