Created Molis enemy page: Aurum Plains/Somu's Dream molerat with level/HP table, three-attack moveset, Blunt resist, Ortrom Solas Ground Pound interaction, and Free the Farm variant
Molis is an enemy in Alabaster Dawn. It is a furry mole-like Nuemera, occasionally referred to in-game as a "molerat" and treated as a Nyx-corrupted version of that animal. Molises burrow and can hide underground invisibly, so they often ambush Juno when a fight with another enemy begins. The larger boss Grandis Molis is a giant mole-class relative.
Area | Plot Progress | Level | HP | EXP at level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Freeing Sundalan | 13 | 1900 | 62 | |
Rebuild from Ruins | 15 | 2000 | 60 | |
Somu's Dream | Any | 22 | 2600 | 53 |
Molises appear throughout the Aurum Plains during the Freeing Sundalan and Rebuild from Ruins questlines, in both scripted and respawning encounters, and as a depth-3 enemy inside the Somu's Dream roguelite mode.
The Molis alternates between three basic attacks:
Energy disc: it raises its tail and shoots a large disc of orange energy at Juno. The disc can be reflected, and a reflected disc passes through enemies, so it can hit several of them.
Burrow swing: it digs underground for a few seconds, then jumps up and swings its tail in an arc. This attack can be parried.
Ground Burst: it buries underground and lunges out directly beneath Juno, dropping a hail of large rocks across the surrounding area. This attack cannot be guarded.
The Molis is resistant to Blunt damage but takes increased break accumulation from Slashing damage. Once broken, it is stunned and loses its resistance. There is a special interaction where a Ground Pound move from Ortrom Solas knocks a burrowing Molis out of the ground, interrupting its attack, briefly stunning it, and dealing high break accumulation.
The Molises fought during the Free the Farm quest have extra behavior. They start the battle hidden underground and must be hit with a Ground Pound to surface. Later in the fight they may retreat underground to regenerate health, which can also be interrupted with a Ground Pound; after regenerating they sometimes stay hidden briefly before resurfacing. An earlier version of this quest kept them underground constantly unless broken, which made building their break bar difficult, so the behavior was changed to the occasional-regeneration pattern.
The Molis drops a Molis Essence (roughly half the time). Essences are used as crafting and upgrade materials.
Keep a Slashing weapon ready for break pressure; the Molis resists Blunt, so leading with a Hammer is slow.
Save an Ortrom Solas Ground Pound for the moment it burrows. It cancels the burrow attack and opens a large break window.
Reflect the orange energy disc back into a cluster of enemies when several Molises (or other targets) line up.
