Weaver
September 11, 2026 at 10:12 PM
Initial version (2026-09-11)
The Weaver is the Grell caster, a Tier 3.5 support creature that spits at range 12 for double damage against air and carries two spells: an acid puddle that poisons ground, and a drain that can be pointed at an enemy to slow them or at an ally to heal and armour them. At 650 move speed it is the fastest ground unit the faction fields.
Figures below describe the September 2026 Early Access build, the one carrying the identifier ZS.c36778, and they move with the weekly patch cadence. Roughly half the versus roster had a stat touched in the fortnight before that build was captured, so treat every number here as dated rather than permanent.

Infuse is the Grell conversion mechanic, paid out of the same top bar power pool as the Legion Reanimate and the Xol Replicate. It permanently raises a friendly unit's health, damage and regeneration for the rest of that unit's life. Since the balance pass of August 11, 2026 the bonus is +45%, down from +50%, and the cost multiplier rose from 0.045 to 0.05 so that it matches the Protectorate shield and the Legion Reanimate.
The Weaver is eligible for all three conversions at an identical 13.125 power each. That is expensive for a 200 health unit, and it reflects the value of the spells rather than the body: Siphon Life and Acid Blight are what a player is paying to keep alive.
Range 12 is the second longest attack in the Grell roster behind the sieged Thresher, and the +100% air bonus makes the Weaver the faction's best sustained answer to a flier: 40 damage a shot against air where the Skrell delivers 15 more often. Where the Skrell is a cheap counter that dies, the Weaver is an expensive one that stays alive by standing behind the army at 650 move speed.
Siphon Life is the flexible tool. Pointed at an enemy it drains health, slows by 20 percent and poisons; pointed at an ally it heals 5 health a second and grants 1 armor. That single point of armour is worth more than it looks on a swarm, because the flat reduction rule takes it off every incoming hit, so a Weaver supporting a line of Stingers or Arkanids is functionally reducing all the chip damage they take. At 10 energy it is cheap enough to run constantly.
Acid Blight is the area denial option at 75 energy, a puddle that poisons anything standing in it for ten seconds. Koru Neuropaths adds 25 percent cast range to both, which is the only upgrade the unit has and is usually taken as soon as Weavers appear.
Weavers come from the Elderwomb and are researched there, which puts them alongside the Reaver and the Behemoth at the top of the Grell tech path. At Tier 3.5 the Weaver is the highest tier unit in the faction roster.
The name of its upgrade, Koru Neuropaths, points at the other half of the Grell partnership: the plant like Koru provide the faction's healing support, and the Weaver is where that support becomes a unit rather than a structure or a passive. On August 19, 2026 the Weaver was one of twenty two units and structures moved onto the newer animation system already used by Commandos and Stingers, alongside the Harbinger and the Skrell.
The Weaver carries Medium armour with an armour value of 0 and 200 health, which is thin for a Tier 3.5 unit and reflects that it is not meant to be in range of anything. Medium has been the most heavily targeted category since the harvester armour type was folded into it on August 11, 2026.
Its own bonus keys off the air domain rather than an armour type, which means it applies to any flier whatever armour that flier carries. Against every ground target, of any armour type, the Weaver does its flat 20. Siphon Life's ally mode grants 1 armor, which interacts with the flat reduction rule rather than with the armour type table.
Target | Why |
|---|---|
Air units | +100% against the air domain, delivered at range 12 from behind the army. |
Swarm support | Siphon Life in ally mode grants 1 armor, which subtracts from every incoming hit on a group of low armour units. |
Contested ground | Acid Blight poisons anything standing in a puddle for ten seconds. |
Threat | Why |
|---|---|
Anything that reaches it | 200 health, Medium armour and no armour value. The Weaver dies immediately in contact. |
Burst damage at range | Nothing about the unit survives focus fire, and it has no escape ability. |
Weapons with a Medium armour bonus | Medium is the busiest bonus category in the build. |
August 19, 2026: moved onto the newer animation system as part of a performance pass, with no stat effect.
August 11, 2026: the Koru Symbiosis healing bonus, which supports the same faction healing role, was reduced from +30% to +25%.
The roster record for this unit is COMPLETE.
The current data publishes no cooldown for either Acid Blight or Siphon Life, only their energy costs. Both are recorded as published rather than filled in.
Per unit numbers are drawn from a community maintained entity catalogue that the studio links from each of its own faction pages. It is the only place the full stat block is published, and it is not a studio document, so the figures are best read as careful community documentation of a build rather than as an official specification. Dated balance notes, by contrast, come straight from the studio patch posts.
