Bring the ship to a Shipwright-built Wharf, open the customization menu, and select the matching hull slot. Tyrian Purple appears in the option list once the unlock condition (Style Book or stock availability) is met.
Tyrian Purple is one of the hull paint schemes carried by the Blackbeard Hull Colors style book, which groups the darker, undead-themed paintwork associated with Blackbeard's crew. Reading the style book permanently adds every color in that set to your customization menu for the character. The other schemes in the same Blackbeard set are Storm on the Horizon and Kraken Ink, so unlocking the book gives you the whole trio at once.
