1122Overview3344Tools in Windrose are gathering and utility items used to extract resources, build or reshape terrain, and solve quest objectives. The full lineup includes four axe tiers (chopping Wood and Hardwood), four pickaxe tiers (mining Stone and ore), the Shovel (digging and terrain shaping), and the Simple Fishing Rod (fishing only). Every tool is crafted at either the Workbench or the Weaponsmith Workshop, and every axe or pickaxe tier above Stone requires a corresponding ingot.5566Tool Roster7788ImageNameTypeDurATKItem LvlWeightStationIngredientsStone AxeAxe10024010.8Workbench3x Stone + 3x WoodCopper AxeAxe14025530.8Workbench Lvl 15x Copper Ingot + 5x WoodIron AxeAxe20025511.0Workbench Lvl 25x Foothills Iron Ingot + 5x WoodSwamp AxeAxe30025511.0Weaponsmith Workshop Lvl 35x Ingot Arborum + 10x HardwoodStone PickaxePickaxe10025510.8Workbench3x Stone + 3x WoodCopper PickaxePickaxe14027030.8Workbench Lvl 15x Copper Ingot + 5x WoodIron PickaxePickaxe20027011.0Workbench Lvl 25x Foothills Iron Ingot + 5x WoodSwamp PickaxePickaxe30027011.0Weaponsmith Workshop Lvl 35x Ingot Arborum + 10x HardwoodShovelShovel14030010.8Workbench Lvl 13x Copper Ingot + 10x WoodSimple Fishing RodFishing Rod(not shown)(not shown)(not shown)3.0Workbench Lvl 25x Hardwood + 3x Rope + 2x Foothills Iron Ingot99Stat display follows the in-game item panel: Durability is the tool's health pool, ATK is the damage applied to a resource node or enemy, Item Level is the item's internal tier index, and Weight is the inventory encumbrance value. The damage type on every tool is Crude.10101111Axes12121313Axes chop Wood and trees and can also break wooden crates at world Points of Interest. The basic Stone Axe handles soft Wood but cannot cut Hardwood. Copper Axe is a faster soft-wood tool with higher durability but still cannot chop Hardwood trees, per the item's own description. Iron Axe is the first axe that can bite into the Foothills' Hardwood, making it the real mid-game gate for any recipe that needs Hardwood (carpentry station upgrades, reinforced furniture, ship keels). Swamp Axe is the endgame option crafted from Ingot Arborum at the Weaponsmith Workshop and is designed for cursed trees in the Arborum biome.14141515Pickaxes16161717Pickaxes mine stone and ore nodes. The pickaxe tier you hold gates the ore tier you can mine: Stone Pickaxe is required to harvest Copper Ore, Clay, and Fertile Soil (the prerequisite for Farming via a Seedbed). Copper Pickaxe unlocks Foothills Iron Ore, which drives the full iron chain. Iron Pickaxe opens Sulfur nodes, which in turn feeds the Millstone and the Homemade Gunpowder supply. Swamp Pickaxe is the endgame pickaxe for the hardest Arborum stone.18181919Utility Tools20202121The Shovel is the one tool that does something neither an axe nor a pickaxe can: it excavates buried ground. It is required for the treasure-dig quest chains, for digging worm bait used on the Simple Fishing Rod, and for terrain shaping around base plots via its Raise and Flatten modes. The Simple Fishing Rod is the launch-build fishing tool and the only item in the roster that carries no combat stat block.22222323Tier Progression24242525TierMaterialToolsStationStone3x Stone + 3x WoodStone Axe, Stone PickaxeWorkbenchCopper5x Copper Ingot + 5x WoodCopper Axe, Copper Pickaxe, Shovel (alt. recipe)Workbench Lvl 1Iron5x Foothills Iron Ingot + 5x WoodIron Axe, Iron Pickaxe, Simple Fishing Rod (alt. recipe)Workbench Lvl 2Arborum (Swamp)5x Ingot Arborum + 10x HardwoodSwamp Axe, Swamp PickaxeWeaponsmith Workshop Lvl 32626Loot Sources Summary27272828Most tools are craft-only, but a handful appear as guaranteed chest drops in specific POIs. Use these as recovery options if your current tool breaks mid-run rather than as a primary farming target.29293030ToolSourceTypeQuantityChanceStone PickaxeCoastal Jungle Cave 01 (pos 3)Chest1100%Copper PickaxeHighlands Dungeon Vase 01 5Chest1100%Copper PickaxeHighlands Dungeon Vase 02 5Chest1100%Copper PickaxeBlackbeard Crew ChestChest1~1%Iron AxeHighlands Start Chest EquipChest Inventory1100%Iron PickaxeHighlands Start Chest EquipChest Inventory1100%ShovelHighlands Dungeon Vase 01 4Chest1100%ShovelHighlands Dungeon Vase 02 4Chest1100%ShovelHighlands Grove Wolf 01Chest1100%3131The Stone Axe, Copper Axe, Swamp Axe, Swamp Pickaxe, and Simple Fishing Rod are craft-only: no current chest, mob, or named-NPC source has been surfaced for these five tools.32323333Vendor Availability34343535No tool in the roster is bought or sold by any vendor. Every tool is either crafted at a Workbench or a Weaponsmith Workshop, or recovered from the chest sources listed above.36363737Durability and Repair38383939Every axe, pickaxe, and the Shovel carries an explicit durability pool that ticks down with use. Higher tiers both hit harder and last longer, so the jump from Stone to Copper is as much about three-times-as-many swings per tool as it is about raw damage. The Simple Fishing Rod does not expose a durability or ATK value in the item panel. Keep a spare stack of materials for your current tier tool so a broken pickaxe in the middle of a mining run is a five-second detour rather than a trip back to base.40404141See Also42424343Workbench: the primary crafting station for every toolWeaponsmith Workshop: required for Swamp-tier toolsCrafting: the broader crafting systemFishing: activity that uses the Simple Fishing RodBuried Treasure: activity that uses the Shovel
