Tear of Sorrow is the item that gates the upgrade path from base Healing Potion to Great Healing Potion. Without a regular Tear supply, a party running Cursed Swamps content stalls at first-aid-level restoration while taking increasingly heavy incoming damage, which is why experienced players treat it as a priority drop on any swamp excursion.
The drop is tied to Plague-corrupted enemies inside the Cursed Swampsso normal-biome mob runs will not produce any. Swamps excursions that clear a mix of named Plague variants are the standard supply route. Pair the run with chest sweeps for Mysterious Spice and ruin looting for Ancient Scraps so one trip into the biome covers multiple supply chains at once.
Beyond the Great Healing Potion line, Tear of Sorrow is consumed in a long list of Infused Elixir recipes (Concentration, Cruelty, Firm Hand, Precision, and others). Because elixirs stack with food buffs, a veteran party typically wants enough Tears on hand to brew both a healing stockpile and at least one elixir per encounter before committing to a late-biome push.
