112233Swollen Drowned are bloated undead variants in Windrose that use an area-of-effect toxic-spit attack. They are among the most dangerous trash mobs in the game because their primary attack is unblockable and covers a wide arc.4455Primary Attack6677The Swollen Drowned's signature attack is a black toxic substance spat in a cone-shaped arc in front of them. The attack is telegraphed with a red-glow indicator (Windrose's standard "unblockable" signal), so it can be seen coming. Standing still or retreating straight backward is usually fatal because the arc is wide. The correct counter is to dodge laterally around the enemy and attack from behind, where the arc does not cover.8899Drowned Family10101111The Swollen Drowned is one branch of the wider Drowned family of undead. Where the base Drowner is a straightforward melee attacker and the Armored Drowned trades mobility for protection, the Swollen Drowned is the ranged-denial member of the group, built around its toxic spit rather than raw melee pressure. Knowing which Drowned you are facing tells you whether to close the gap, break through armor, or sidestep a cone.12121313VariantThreatDrownerBase melee undead; the most common DrownedArmored DrownedPlated melee variant; needs armor penetration or staggersSwollen DrownedUnblockable toxic-spit cone; dodge sideways and hit from behind1414Counter Strategy15151616Lock on with T so dodges reorient relative to the enemyWatch for the red-glow windupDodge to the side (not backward) when the windup beginsComplete a second dodge if stamina permits, circling behind the targetPause briefly to let stamina regenerate before the attack window opensAttack from behind where the toxic arc does not reach17171818Locations19192020Coastal Jungle - less common; typically guards points of interestCursed Swamps - substantially more common; often grouped with Drowner packs and Plague Thrall enemiesDungeon encounters - the cone-shaped arc is especially punishing in narrow corridors21212222Tactical Notes23232424Do NOT try to block the toxic spit; blocking against unblockable attacks still consumes stamina without preventing damageLingering plague pools may remain on the ground briefly after the spit; stay mobileSwollen Drowned have lower HP than some melee undead, so one post-spit attack is often enough to killPair with a ranged weapon to bait the spit from a safe distanceFire is the only listed damage weakness, so a fire-element weapon or thrown incendiary speeds the kill25252626Data Export27272828Combat stats, traits, and drop data below are taken from the current Windrose data export and reflect game version 0.10.0.0.277.
