The Storm on the Horizon is a ship hull color cosmetic in Windrose, applied at the Shipwright to customize a player ship's hull paintwork. The Storm on the Horizon design is associated with Blackbeard's Crew.
Storm on the Horizon is a hull paint, one of the cosmetic ship colors in Windrose. It changes only the painted appearance of a ship's hull and has no effect on speed, cargo, armor, or any combat statistic. Paint is applied through the Shipwright infrastructure: dock the vessel at a player-built Wharf, open the Manage Ship menu, and switch to the Customization tab. Select the hull slot, then pick Storm on the Horizon from the list of unlocked colors.
Once the design is unlocked it stays unlocked for your character. You can repaint it onto any ship you own, swapping freely between unlocked colors, and repainting an already-owned color costs no Guinea. This makes hull paint a one-time unlock rather than a consumable, so there is no penalty to switching looks between voyages.
By night the hull melts into shadow, leaving only a phantom silhouette. Ideal for ambushes in the dark.

Bring the ship to a Shipwright-built Wharf, open the customization menu, and select the matching hull slot. Storm on the Horizon appears in the option list once the unlock condition (Style Book or stock availability) is met.
The Blackbeard ship designs are not sold by a player-facing provisioner. Players obtain the matching Style Books by looting Blackbeard outposts and capturing Blackbeard ships, after which the design becomes available at the Shipwright. Because it is tied to Blackbeard, there is no vendor cost: the unlock comes from defeating Blackbeard forces and recovering the Style Book they carry, rather than from spending currency.
This cosmetic name appears in the database under the Brig-class entry, but the underlying design is shared across Brig, Frigate, and Ketch hull classes. Once the Style Book is read, the option is available for every ship class your character has built or unlocked.
