The Maiden Timber is a ship hull color cosmetic in Windrose, applied at the Shipwright to customize a player ship's hull paintwork. As a stock option, Maiden Timber is available without faction reputation gating.
A light, almost golden paint that recalls freshly cut timber. The ship looks new, ready for its first fight.

Sail the ship to a Shipwright-built Wharf and dock it. Open the Manage Ship menu, switch to the Customization tab, and select Hull. Maiden Timber appears in the option list once the Style Book is read; previewing it swaps the live ship model immediately, then confirm to apply.
Maiden Timber is a stock color, unlocked by reading Style Book: Stock Hull Colors, a one-time-use book sold by the faction Provisioner. Stock colors do not require Faction Reputation, so the book is available early. Reading it permanently adds the paint to the customization menu for that character, and there is no Guinea cost to apply or repaint it onto any ship you own.
This cosmetic name appears in the database under the Brig-class entry, but the underlying design is shared across Brig, Frigate, and Ketch hull classes. Once the Style Book is read, the option is available for every ship class your character has built or unlocked.
Maiden Timber is one of the stock hull colors unlocked through Style Book: Stock Hull Colors, the same book that unlocks Black Powder. Stock colors carry no faction theme and can be worn by any Brig, Frigate, or Ketch hull class once the book is read.

As a cosmetic, Maiden Timber has no effect on a ship's stats. The 1.0 kg weight applies only to the unread book in your inventory; once consumed the color is free to keep and swap. Being a stock option, it is a popular first repaint for a freshly built hull, matching the description of timber that looks newly cut.
