Flax grows wild across the grassy mainland sections of the Foothills. Plants cluster in batches of 3 to 4 and produce distinctive purple flowers that stand out against the green grass even at medium camera distance.
Harvesting is no-tool; simply interact with the flowering plant to collect Flax Fiber. The plants do not require a pickaxe or sickle, which makes them a safe gather target even on low-gear exploration runs.
The main downstream product is Linen Fabric, crafted at the Spinning Wheel. Linen Fabric feeds the Brigantine design chain and a large share of mid-game armor upgrades, so any Foothills run should pause for flax if the player still needs linen.
Once Fertile Soil is unlocked, flax becomes farmable at your own base. Planting flax saplings in cultivated planters removes the field-gathering dependency and stabilizes Linen Fabric supply for the rest of the run.
