Crate of Medicine

Crate of Medicine is a bulk cargo item used by Windrose's merchant trade system. Cargo crates are picked up cheap at one faction port and sold for a higher price at a port that wants them, with the price difference set by Merchant Contracts that refresh on a daily cycle. Cargo is heavy by design, so trade routes are planned around what a particular ship class can move in one trip.
The crate reeks of medicine. You'll recover just to avoid drinking this foul stuff.
Hand in to a Faction Merchants Buyer at a faction port for the day's posted price, or use as a turn-in for a Merchant Contracts delivery quest for a fixed Guinea reward. Spot prices in faction ports usually beat contract prices for small inventories, while contracts are better for ten-plus stacks.
Crates of Medicine are picked up as cheap stock at a faction port whose merchant is selling them, then carried to a port that posts a higher buy price. The gap between the two prices is what makes the run profitable, and because the day's wanted goods rotate, the best destination changes with each cycle of Merchant Contracts. They also turn up as loot from cleared points of interest, so a hold can fill without buying a single crate.
This bulk trade crate is separate from Medical Crates, the loot trade good of a similar name. Neither one unlocks a healing recipe; for actual in-combat recovery, craft a Bandage instead.

Match the load to the ship. A heavy hold slows a vessel, so plan a run around what one hull can carry rather than overloading a light ship.
Compare the spot price against the contract reward before selling. Walk-up port prices tend to win for a few crates, while a stacked hold is usually worth more turned in against a delivery contract.
Keep trade crates in their own labelled chest so they do not get scrapped or eaten by mistake during crafting.
Merchant Contracts the daily delivery board.
Faction Merchants the port buyers and sellers.
Trade Goods the full cargo category.
Medical Crates the similarly named loot trade good.
