Warhammer Survivors is a roguelite survivors game. The official description calls it a fast-paced survivors game in which iconic Warhammer characters face endless hordes from multiple Warhammer factions. A run is a fight for survival against waves of enemies; when the champion dies, what was earned carries forward to make the next attempt stronger.
Choose a universe: Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
Choose a champion from that universe's roster. Each starts with a unique weapon and unique starting stats.
Enter a stage. Nearly every stage has its own enemy faction and secrets; the Hobby Table mixes several factions, and Hammerhal pits you against two.
Survive as long as possible while enemies swarm toward you. Kill enemies and add or level up weapons and passives.
Pair weapons with the right power-ups to evolve them into stronger forms.
Face large bosses, including each faction's Extremis Boss, the longer you survive.
After the run, spend gold on permanent upgrades and check what has been unlocked.
The two universes are kept apart. Each has its own champions, weapons, enemies, stages and progression tree, although some weapons are cross-universe, such as the D6 Dice and Nuln Oil. A Warhammer 40,000 champion only fights in Warhammer 40,000 stages, and the same goes for Age of Sigmar. The full list of revealed champions is on the Characters page.
The game has more than 75 weapons. Some aim automatically and others do not, which the developer has said is a deliberate design choice. Weapons can be mixed and matched with power-ups and evolved into new forms, for example the Boltgun into the Heavy Bolter or the Power Fists into the Gauntlets of Ultramar, which also summons Marneus Calgar to fight beside you. See Weapons and Evolutions for every confirmed weapon and evolution. The store page also mentions a mighty cache of passives and power-ups to help you last longer.
Pick-up items are found around faction-themed light sources on the battlefield. They differ by universe: Warhammer 40,000 has Extreme Ordnances such as the Melta-bomb and Blast Template, while Age of Sigmar has Endless Spells such as the Purple Sun of Shyish. Details are on the Pick-Ups page. Many weapons and enemies also apply Status Effects, and champions can suffer them too.

Enemies run at the player rather than away. Six factions are confirmed, three per universe. Within each faction, certain enemies have special skills such as charging, pouncing, healing or fleeing, and each faction has a Faction Trait inspired by the tabletop game, such as the Tyranids' Synapse and the Orks' Waaagh!. See Enemy Factions and Bosses.

Death is not the end of progress. Gold collected during a run is spent on permanent upgrades through the Power Up menu, and an Unlocks menu tracks what can still be earned. Warhammer paint pots found on the battlefield unlock new character forms and secrets. See Progression and Unlocks.
The store page promises multiple modes. As of October 2026, Auroch Digital has not named the modes beyond that. The game is single-player at launch; the developer has said it would tell the community if multiplayer were added later. On Steam it lists full controller support, DualShock and DualSense support, a keyboard-only option, and a setting tag for being playable without timed input.
In July 2026 Auroch listed the changes it was making to the full game after feedback on the first Demo, noting that all of it was subject to change:
Balancing for enemies, characters and weapons, including health, damage, speed and enemy waves.
Cross-universe progression, sharing earned currency between the two universes.
Bug fixes and quality-of-life changes, such as making sure no weapon chest is out of reach and letting players skip sequences.
