School of the Lynx

The School of the Lynx is a witcher school introduced in The Witcher IV. Ciri wears its medallion, which features a cat-like feline head distinct from the wolf medallion associated with Geralt's School of the Wolf.
The concept of the School of the Lynx originated in the fan community before CDPR adopted and made it official canon. The original Witcher series featured several schools (Wolf, Cat, Griffin, Bear, Viper, Manticore, and Crane), each with different combat philosophies and traditions. The Lynx appears to be the newest addition to this roster.
Game director Sebastian Kalemba described Ciri as "about to form her own codex on her own terms." This phrasing suggests the School of the Lynx may be Ciri's own creation rather than a pre-existing institution. Given that most traditional witcher schools were in decline or defunct by the time of The Witcher 3, Ciri founding a new school would represent a fresh chapter in witcher history.
The School of the Lynx medallion was first teased in 2022 when CDPR's initial announcement image showed a lynx-shaped medallion embedded in snow. At the time, speculation centered on whether Ciri or an entirely new character would carry it. The December 2024 reveal confirmed it belongs to Ciri.
