About the school
The School of the Lynx is a witcher school introduced in The Witcher IV. Ciri wears its medallion, which features a feline head distinct from the wolf medallion of Geralt's school. It is the newest addition to the known witcher schools.
First teaser and confirmation
In March 2022, CDPR's announcement of a new Witcher game included an image of a medallion half-buried in snow. The shape was ambiguous enough that fans initially debated whether it represented the School of the Cat. CDPR's global community director Marcin Momot settled the question on Twitter: "I can confirm that the medallion is, in fact, shaped after a lynx."

The December 2024 cinematic trailer confirmed the medallion belongs to Ciri. She wears it visibly around her neck throughout the trailer.
Connection to Ciri
Game director Sebastian Kalemba described Ciri as "about to form her own codex on her own terms." This phrasing suggests the School of the Lynx may be Ciri's own creation. By the time of The Witcher 3, most traditional witcher schools were in decline or defunct. Kaer Morhen had only a handful of witchers left, and knowledge of how to perform the Trial of the Grasses was believed lost. Ciri founding a new school would represent something genuinely new in witcher history.
Fan origins
The concept of a "School of the Lynx" existed in the fan community before CDPR's announcement. Writers SMiki55 and Witcher190 created a School of the Lynx on the Witcher Fanon Wiki, with its own lore involving Lambert and Keira Metz reforming the School of the Cat into the School of the Lynx.

CDPR has made clear that the fan-written lore is coincidental, not source material. A CDPR developer stated that using fan-made content would be "practically impossible" for legal reasons. The School of the Lynx in the game shares only the name with the fan creation.
