11 Side quests are optional missions Elliot can take on for townspeople and NPCs across the four ages of Philabieldia. They reward extra weapons, accessories, and tul, and a few early ones are mandatory to advance the main story. Most are accepted by speaking with the King of Huther after clearing a dungeon, or by finding the NPC who needs help.

44 How Side Quests Work
55
66 Side quests are accepted by talking to the right NPC, usually after reaching a story milestone. The first pair in the Age of Safekeeping is mandatory and rewards Elliot's first alternate weapons, while later ones are fully optional. If a quest cannot be accepted yet, more main-story progress is usually required first.

1828 Quests in Later Ages
1929
20-The Age of Reconstruction, Age of Magic, and Age of Budding each carry more side quests than are documented above. Some of these later-age quests become missable once Elliot passes the Point of No Return, which is reached around the use of the Tracing Needle at the summit of Mount Phoenix. Quests tied to an earlier era cannot be completed after that point, so it is worth clearing them before advancing the main story.
30+Every age carries its own optional roster, and a quest tied to one era cannot be picked up from another. Note that the same regions recur across all four ages, so a starting location alone does not tell you which era a quest belongs to: Eastern Hucarea, for instance, hosts quests in both the Age of Safekeeping and the Age of Budding.

22-Confirmed later-age examples include Calotesia's History Lesson, among others. A full list of later-age side quests and their rewards will continue to fill in as more of each era is documented.
