Yuangong Sect
August 7, 2026 at 08:44 AM
Corrected the Chinese title after the subtitle was dropped, added the sect's Chinese name, and added the demo duel against the sect's namesake
The Yuangong Sect is the order to which the protagonist of Sword Sage: Awakening, Pei Sanniang, belongs. Its disciples act as Yaoguai Vanquishers, hunting the supernatural creatures that plague Guannandao in the wake of the leaked celestial books.
Sword Sage: Awakening has not released yet. It is listed as "Coming soon" with no confirmed date, so every detail below reflects pre-launch material and is subject to change before launch.
The sect trains its members to combat the Yaoguai, creatures warped by the power of the forbidden celestial books. A disciple of the Yuangong Sect is sent into the world to face these threats directly. Pei Sanniang is presented as one of the sect's newest members, a novice still learning the order's ways.
The Yuangong Sect is associated with a secret technique the game renders as "Evade Cyan, Strike Red". This method blends fluid traditional swordsmanship with a single fused motion of evasion and counterattack, and it is the foundation of how the sect's vanquishers fight. The technique sits alongside heavy leg attacks, celestial artifacts, and Taoist spells in the disciple's repertoire. The full combat system page covers how these tools work together.
The sect is written 猿公门 in Chinese, the "Yuangong Gate," and its swordsmanship shares the name: pre-launch material uses 猿公剑, "Yuangong Sword," for the style. That is also the game's Chinese title. The title was first announced as 《猿公剑:白猿觉醒》 ("Yuangong Sword: White Ape Awakening") before the developers dropped the subtitle, leaving 《猿公剑》 on its own. In the finished game the sect's swordsmanship is planned to span multiple sword types, including paired blades that reward precise timing.
The 猿公 (Yuangong) the sect is named for appears in the playable demo builds as an opponent. The studio has run timed challenges against him at its show-floor booths, giving players fifteen minutes to win at one of them, and hands-on accounts describe the fight as a teaching duel in which he announces the direction of each attack so the player can practise answering it. He shares the 猿公 element of his name with the Supreme White Gibbon Sage whose carelessness began the story, written 白猿公 in Chinese. Whether they are the same figure, or how either relates to the sect's founding, has not been stated in pre-launch material, and this wiki records only what has been shown. See development and public showings for the showings themselves.
