Sword Sage: Awakening is the debut project of Chengdu Sword Panda Games, a small Chinese studio working with the publisher 4Divinity. This page collects what is confirmed about the studio, the people credited on the project, and the occasions on which the game has been shown or made playable in public. For the game itself, see Sword Sage: Awakening.
Sword Sage: Awakening has not released yet. It is listed as "Coming soon" with no confirmed date, so every detail below reflects pre-launch material and is subject to change before launch.
The Studio
Chengdu Sword Panda Games was established in November 2022 and is based in Chengdu, in southwestern China. It registers as Chengdu SwordPandaGames Network Technology Co., Ltd., appears on storefronts as Sword Panda Limited, and is credited in Chinese as 成都剑猫熊网络. The studio describes itself as focused on high-quality single-player action role-playing games, and Sword Sage: Awakening is its first title.
The studio positions the project as a "Triple-i" production, a term it defines itself as covering games with development budgets above a typical independent title but below a standard AA release, and well below AAA. It says its core team members come out of AA and AAA single-player development, naming former Ubisoft developers from the Shanghai and Chengdu studios among them, with expertise spanning concept development, project management, art direction, programming, combat design, narrative design and world building. Published accounts of the team's size vary and no figure has been confirmed by the studio, so none is stated here.
Named Core Team
The publisher's product page for the game credits four members of the studio's core team by name, with the industry experience each brings to the project.

|---|---|---|
Yuuki Yu | Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer | Credited with 18 years of experience, including work at TGBus, Tencent, Indielight and GamirrorGames before Sword Panda. |
Sam Wu | Game Director and Art Director | Credited with 15 years of experience, with prior work on Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, The Division and F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch. |
Li Tuoming | Technical and Combat Designer | Credited with 11 years of experience, including F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch and The Legend of Sword and Fairy, plus a personal project. |

Sam Wu has also been referred to as the game's producer in pre-launch interviews. The studio's own page gives his title as game director and art director, and that is the form used here.

When | Occasion | What was shown |
|---|---|---|
2024 | First gameplay footage | The studio's first public gameplay video, predating the game's storefront listings. |
August 2025 | gamescom 2025, Cologne | A playable booth demo, at Hall 10.1, booth A060. The studio also gave a developer presentation about the game's design at the show. |
June 2026 | Media preview event, Shanghai | A roughly three-hour hands-on build given to press and video creators, the source of most published impressions of the combat systems. |
26 June 2026 | Story trailer | The current trailer, released alongside a set of store screenshots. |
July 2026 | BilibiliWorld 2026, Shanghai | A thirty-minute hands-on demo at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center, hall 4.1H, booth 4A14, alongside a timed boss challenge and booth giveaways. |
31 July to 3 August 2026 | ChinaJoy 2026, Shanghai | A booth demo at stand N1G102, with a challenge giving players fifteen minutes to defeat the boss 猿公 (Yuangong) for a limited prize, plus booth giveaways. |
The boss challenge run at these events pits the player against 猿公 (Yuangong), the figure the Yuangong Sect is named for. After ChinaJoy 2026 the studio said it had collected player feedback at the booth and would continue polishing the game, and it has not announced a release window since.
A recurring red panda character serves as the studio's mascot for these events and appears in the game itself at its rest points. It is named 绯头子 in Chinese.
What Is Not Yet Known

Nothing has been said publicly about a downloadable demo, post-launch content, or pricing.
