The Foureye is an aggressive, non-leviathan predator in Subnautica 2. It is reported to be one of the apex predators among the smaller fauna, distinguished by a behavior pattern in which it is born in twin pairs. Despite its aggression, the Foureye is described as having very low health, so it goes down quickly to environmental hazards and is more of a fast harasser than a durable threat.
As an apex predator outside the leviathan-class tier, the Foureye is a creature the player is expected to evade rather than fight, in line with the game's no-weapons philosophy. Its very low health means it is fragile relative to its aggression, but the player has no dedicated weapon to exploit that fragility, so escape and positioning remain the primary responses.
The Foureye's signature trait is that it appears to be born in twin pairs, meaning encounters often involve two of them at once rather than a lone animal. This twin-spawning pattern is the most consistently reported detail about the creature. Beyond that, it behaves as an active aggressor toward the player. The precise biome distribution and spawn density are not firmly documented in the current Early Access build, so those specifics should be treated as unconfirmed.
The danger from a Foureye comes from its aggression and from the fact that it tends to arrive in pairs, which can split the player's attention. Individually it is reported to have very low health and is not built to absorb punishment, so it relies on speed and numbers rather than raw durability. Two aggressive predators converging at once is more dangerous than the threat either one poses alone.
Assume a second Foureye is nearby whenever you spot one, and watch your flanks for the twin.
Use terrain, kelp, and tight cover to break line of sight and put distance between yourself and the pair.
Retreat into or behind a vehicle when one is available, using its bulk to block the predators.
Disengage rather than trade blows; with no weapon to capitalize on their low health, escaping the encounter is the reliable option.
