Overview

Wheatfish is a freshwater fish found in lake zones in Starsand Island. It appears during Spring and Winter in any weather condition, making it available across two seasons regardless of the daily forecast. At 140g, Wheatfish is one of the higher-value lake fish, tied with Kissing Gourami for the second-highest regular lake fish price (behind Baikal Sculpin at 238g). Wheatfish can be processed into Fish Fillet at the Separator or sold directly.

How to Catch

• Season: Spring or Winter. Not available during Summer or Autumn.

• Weather: Any weather works. No need to wait for specific conditions.

• Time: 06:00 to 20:00. An early-morning-to-evening window that covers the full active day.

• Bait: Veggie Bait or Meat Bait. Bring either one; both attract Wheatfish equally well.

Lake fishing spots include Cloudrest Lake near Hopeland and several smaller lakes scattered across the island. Head to any lake, toss bait to chum the water, and cast toward the fish shadows that appear.

Fish Pond Breeding

Wheatfish requires 3 oxygen in the Fish Pond. A Small or Stone Fish Pond with 12 oxygen capacity can hold up to 4 Wheatfish. The Medium Fish Pond at 40 capacity can hold up to 13. Stock the pond with Fish Feed (crafted at the Chopper II) each night to give your fish a chance to produce eggs.

Tips

• Wheatfish's "Any" weather requirement makes it the most reliable high-value lake fish. Unlike Baikal Sculpin (which needs sunny winter weather), Wheatfish appears rain or shine.

• At 280g per fish from the Merchant Ship, a stack of Wheatfish from a single fishing session can generate significant income.

• The dual-bait acceptance means you can share bait supplies between Wheatfish and other fish in the same lake. If you are already using Meat Bait for Crucian Carp, you can catch Wheatfish without swapping.

• Spring is the best season for Wheatfish because it overlaps with other valuable Spring lake catches like Crucian Carp (108g) and Koi (101g).
