Overview

Redfish is an ocean fish species in Starsand Island, found along the coastline in the Ocean zone. Named for its reddish coloring, the Redfish is notable for having a split spawn schedule with two separate active periods each day. It appears during Summer and Autumn and responds to Bug Bait and Meat Bait. The Redfish is a mid-range ocean catch that fills an important slot in the Islandpedia's Aquatic Life section.

Catch Details

The Redfish has a split spawn schedule: it is active from 06:00 to 12:00 in the morning and again from 18:00 to midnight. There is a 6-hour gap in the afternoon (12:00 to 18:00) where the Redfish cannot be caught. This makes it one of the few fish in the game with two separate daily windows.

How to Catch

Head to any ocean shoreline on the island during the Redfish's active hours. Equip your Fishing Rod and chum the water with Bug Bait or Meat Bait. The Redfish appears as a shadow near the shore and puts up moderate resistance. A basic or mid-tier Fishing Rod is sufficient for ocean shoreline catches.

Fish Pond

Redfish can be placed in a Fish Pond for breeding and display. Maintain adequate fish food and oxygen levels. Eggs typically appear after 1 to 2 in-game days.

Tips

• Remember the split schedule: 06:00 to 12:00 and 18:00 to midnight. Fishing between 12:00 and 18:00 will not yield Redfish.

• The Redfish only appears in Summer and Autumn. Spring and Winter ocean trips will not produce this species.

• Both Bug Bait and Meat Bait work, so use whichever you have more of.

• Sell surplus at the Merchant Ship for double the base price.

• The split schedule makes the Redfish easy to miss if you only fish during the afternoon. Plan around the morning or evening window.
