Quartz Ore

Initial version (2026-04-25). Created dedicated page for Quartz Ore covering location, mining tier, processing into Glass Brick and Glass Pane, and bus stop construction relevance.
Quartz Ore is a green-tinted ore found in the Gate of Life area of the Moonlit Forest in Starsand Island. It is the source material for Glass Pane, a building material required in large volumes for bus stop construction across the island, and for crafting the Prism component used in the Energy Converter.
Quartz veins appear as green-tinted rock outcrops in the Gate of Life zone. They require the Impulse Pickaxe (Junior Crafter) to mine, the same tier upgrade that unlocks Copper, Tin, and Iron Ore. Quartz is less abundant than Copper or Iron, so dedicated farming runs are often needed when building out bus stops or upgrading the Impulse Pickaxe.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Resource type | Ore (Moonlit Forest) |
Visual | Green-tinted rock vein |
Tool required | Impulse Pickaxe (Junior Crafter). The starter Stone Pickaxe is not strong enough. |

Glass Brick | 4 Quartz + 1 Charcoal | Intermediate ingredient for Glass Pane | |
Glass Pane | Refined from Glass Brick | Bus stops, windows, Jam Maker, Pickling Jar | |
Prism | Refined from Glass Brick | Energy Converter (2 needed) |
The largest single use of Quartz is the bus stop reconstruction quest line, which builds out the island's fast-travel network. Each completed bus stop consumes 5 Glass Pane, and there are 10 bus stops in total, requiring 50 Glass Pane (and therefore 50 Quartz plus 50 Charcoal) at minimum across the questline.
If you plan to build all 10 bus stops, stockpile a minimum of 50 to 60 Quartz before starting the second half of the chain. Many players also reserve extra Quartz for the Pickling Jar and Jam Maker stations, which use Glass Pane in their crafting recipes.
Impulse Pickaxe. The Impulse Pickaxe upgrade requires 5 Quartz alongside Fluorite and Copper. This is one of the few cases where you need the existing pickaxe to mine the components for its upgrade.
Glass Pane construction. Used in greenhouses, decorative windows, and station upgrades that include glass elements.
Prism production. Glass Brick can be processed into Prisms at the Gear Smith, which feed the Energy Converter for power-component crafting.
Mine Quartz aggressively in the Gate of Life. Quartz is less common than other Junior-tier ores. Take every node you see during a forest pass.
Process Glass in parallel. Build extra Furnace I and Cutter I stations specifically for Glass Brick and Glass Pane production. The Cutter is passive, so multiple stations let you queue large batches.
Reserve a Quartz stockpile for bus stops. Avoid burning your supply on decorative recipes until the bus stop network is complete. The fast-travel uplift is one of the biggest mid-game quality-of-life gains.
Pair with Charcoal production. Every batch of Glass Brick consumes 1 Charcoal per 4 Quartz. Keep your Charcoal Kiln running while you mine.
