The Dating System is a Persona-inspired relationship mechanic allowing players to build romantic connections with crew members in Nova City. It integrates social bonding alongside combat and exploration as a core gameplay pillar.
The system draws from Persona's social links, featuring daily scheduling, location-based meetings, dialogue choices, milestone events, and gameplay benefits tied to relationships. Characters maintain realistic daily routines through the 24/7 NPC Cycle and exist independently until events bring them together.
Both male and female player character options are available, affecting romance options and dialogue variations. Datable characters include the Anti-Chaos Task Force members:
Taffy (Cat Express delivery specialist)
Richie (NCCA investigator)
Seymour (Eonbug hacker)
Alan (information broker/model)
Bansy (street artist)
Mechanika (ghost worker/performer)
Aileen (Dream Garden manager)
Ringo (DPA liaison/high school student)
The system includes:
Time investment and activity selection with specific characters.
Gift-giving aligned with character preferences.
Dialogue choices affecting relationship progression.
Character schedules determining availability windows.
Location-based dating at venues like movie theaters, basketball courts, mahjong venues, fitness centers, restaurants, Delirium Block, and parks.
Relationships progress through stages: Acquaintance → Friendship → Close Friendship → Romance Hints → Committed Relationship → Endgame Content with special scenes and narrative conclusions.
Dating storylines explore character backstories, motivations, vulnerabilities, aspirations, and past traumas, with romance potentially affecting mission dialogue, story choices, and multiple endings.
Building relationships provides gameplay benefits:
Combat synergies and team bonuses when using romantically linked characters.
Special abilities and stat boosts from relationship milestones.
Information access through character connections to their affiliated organizations.
Resource assistance from factions through relationship leverage.
Skill-teaching opportunities unique to specific characters.
