New article: Bus Stops fast travel guide with locations, costs, unlock process, and travel network comparison
Bus Stops are the primary fast travel network on Starsand Island. Once repaired and activated, they allow you to instantly travel between any two bus stop locations for a small coin fee. The bus network connects major regions of the island, making it the most practical way to traverse long distances without using a vehicle.
Bus stops start in a broken/inactive state. You must repair each stop before it becomes usable. The Bus Stop Reconstruction quest introduces this system early in the game. To repair a bus stop:
Walk up to a broken bus stop (identifiable by its damaged appearance).
Interact with it to see the required repair materials (typically wood and stone).
Provide the materials to complete the repair.
The stop becomes active the next day and connects to the bus network.
Each bus stop you repair expands the network. You only need to repair a stop once; it stays active permanently after that.
Traveling between bus stops costs 15 coins per trip. The cost is fixed regardless of distance. At 15 coins, bus travel is extremely affordable, especially compared to vehicle rental costs or the time spent walking. For context, selling a single crop often covers multiple bus trips.
Method | Cost | Coverage | Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
Bus Stops | 15 coins/trip | Major regions (must repair each stop) | Bus Stop Reconstruction quest + materials |
Teleporters | Free | Specific locations (unlocked through exploration) | Found and activated during exploration |
Vehicles | Free (owned) / 10-54 coins/hr (rental) | Anywhere on roads/terrain | Various profession tiers |
Parrot Ship | Varies | Three offshore fishing zones | Starsand Port Construction quest |
Bus stops are most useful for:
Quick trips to specific shops: Jump to the nearest bus stop to a vendor instead of walking across the island.
Combining with vehicles: Ride the bus to the nearest stop, then skateboard or drive the last stretch.
Morning routines: Bus to your farm, ranch, or fishing spot to start the day without wasting time in transit.
Late-night returns: If it is approaching 2:00 AM and you are far from home, a bus stop gets you back quickly before you pass out.
Repair bus stops as you encounter them during exploration. Each new stop expands your fast travel options.
At 15 coins per trip, bus travel is almost always worth it over walking. The time saved pays for itself many times over.
Combine bus stops with teleporters for comprehensive island coverage. Teleporters fill gaps where bus stops do not reach.
Keep some coins in your inventory at all times for bus travel. Running out of money at a bus stop is frustrating.
The bus stop near your homestead should be among the first you repair. It becomes your most-used fast travel point.
