Blueprints are how ship designs are shared and sold between players in SpaceCraft. They let you skip the design work, or profit from your own designs.
Rather than designing every ship from scratch, you can buy blueprints from other players for ready-made designs that you can build instantly. This makes it possible to get a capable, proven ship without working out the component layout yourself, as long as you have the parts or means to build it.
Blueprints also work in your favor as a creator. Once you have perfected a ship, you can sell its blueprint, allowing others to build and pilot your creation. A well-regarded design can become a source of income on the player-driven marketplace.
Action | Result |
|---|---|
Buy a blueprint | Gain a ready-made ship design you can build instantly. |
Sell a blueprint | Let other players build your design and earn from it. |
Perfect a design | Create a desirable blueprint others want to buy. |
Blueprints are one of the goods that flow through the player-driven economy, alongside resources and ship parts. Every marketplace transaction affects prices, so popular designs and scarce parts move the market. See Trading and the Player-Driven Economy and Ship Building.
Access to blueprints and ship modification opens up through progression. In the tutorial, the first permit, Modular Systems, grants the Scanalyzer Alpha and Small Cargo Hold blueprints and access to the Shipyard, where ships are built and modified. See Progression: Permits and Experience and Ship Building.
