The brush icon

After your first day with animals, you will notice a small icon above some of their heads. It looks like it could be a cat litter scooper at first glance, but it is a brush. The Ranching tutorial with Pastelle does not cover cleaning, which is a bit of an oversight. She teaches you to feed and shelter them, but not this.

Getting the brush

You need the Brush Blueprint from Green Pasture Ranch.

1. Go to Green Pasture Ranch (open 10 AM to 9 PM).

2. Walk up to the cash register in the first room.

3. Buy the Brush Blueprint for 150 Coins.

4. Go to any worktable and craft the Brush using 2x Softwood and 2x Wool.

If you do not have Wool yet, wait a day or two. Your rabbit hutch (or any wool-producing animal enclosure) will automatically collect fluff from your animals and convert it to Wool.

Using the brush

Walk up to any animal with the brush icon above its head and look for the "Clean" option. It appears above the "Examine" option, which is always available.

• Keyboard and mouse: Left mouse button.

• Controller: Right trigger button.

Your character will crouch down and brush the animal. Do this for each animal that needs cleaning. Each one gains a few Happiness points, and animals with higher Happiness produce better goods.

The "Clean" option is not always available because animals do not need cleaning every single day. Just check when you visit your enclosures and clean whoever has the brush icon.
