Star Wars: Galactic Racer is built around a story-driven single-player campaign set during the New Republic era, after the fall of the Empire. With the Empire's grip broken, a new obsession takes hold across the lawless Outer Rim: speed. Gambling, entertainment, and glory feed a booming underground, and out of that chaos rises The Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit where criminal syndicates sponsor pilots and reputations are made or destroyed in seconds. The setting leans on familiar Star Wars history for context, but the racing league and its story are specific to this game.
Darius Pax founded the Galactic League, but he no longer controls it. The reigning champion, Kestar Bool, dominates the circuit, and he is as talented as he is villainous. He uses his position as League Champion to threaten other pilots and extend the reach of his family's influence. To claw back control of his league, Darius Pax recruits an outsider.
That outsider is Shade, a mysterious pilot carrying a personal grudge against the Bool family. With the backing of the energetic engineer Hibi and a certain legendary podracer, Shade sets out to unseat the corrupt champion. The result is a rivalry the game frames as one that will define the course of the Galactic League.
The campaign is structured around runs rather than a fixed linear path, a design the developers describe as a story of shifting alliances. You carve your own route through the League, choosing between different events as you progress, with unique unlocks and new challenges at every turn. Once you commit to an event, there is no turning back.
Crashing carries real weight. If a pilot crashes too many times, they wreck out of the tour and have to regroup, rebuild, and start again. Only certain perks and unlocks earned in earlier attempts carry over to the next run, so each fresh tour brings new decisions while the larger goal, taking down Kestar Bool, stays fixed. For the full mechanics of how tours, tokens, and carry-over work, see Runs and Tours.
Between events, Shade spends time in the paddock, the area where racers gather to share stories, throw down challenges, and sometimes offer support. Every planet has its own paddock, and each one features Hibi and her workshop. There, Shade fits new parts, earned on a run or bought from Hibi, that grant stat boosts and abilities to match a chosen racing style. The paddock is where preparation happens before heading out onto the circuit.
The campaign builds toward the ultimate test of the Galactic League at Derven Acos, a custom-built arena designed specifically for the league and revealed in the story trailer. Derven Acos combines every planetary condition a pilot encounters across a tour into a single gauntlet, so it demands both nerves of steel and a well-tuned build. It serves as the showpiece challenge that the rest of the campaign prepares you for. Derven Acos and the racing worlds that lead up to it are detailed on the Planets and Circuits page.
