Storage shapes almost every loop in SpaceCraft. What you can carry decides how long a mining run lasts, what a base can hold decides how much automation it can feed, and what a Corporation can pool decides how big a Request it can take on. This page brings together every container the developer has confirmed, with the numbers that have been published. Most of them were revised in Community Update #1 on September 16, 2026, which added the Advanced Warehouse and Personal Station Storage in direct response to feedback about inventory pressure.
Storage Units
Capacity is measured in Storage Units, shown as SU. Different forms of the same raw material take up different space, which is why the choice between ore and nuggets matters on a full hold. Since Community Update #1 a player's total SU capacity is capped, closing a bug that allowed effectively infinite item storage. See Mining and Resources.
Example | Space |
|---|---|
2 Iron Ore (yields 1 Iron Ingot) | 10 SU |
4 Iron Nuggets (yields 1 Iron Ingot) | 4 SU |
Ship Storage
Your ship's hold is set by the cargo modules you fit, and every module competes for the same System Support budget as your tools. The Small Cargo Hold is the first, unlocked by the Modular Systems permit in the tutorial. Larger cargo holds are described as one of the passive bonuses a tool can add, but no catalogue of hold sizes has been published. Liquids never go in the hold: they need tanks, covered below. See Ship Modules and Tools.
Personal Station Storage
Since Community Update #1 every station offers 300 SU of personal storage, and it is shared across all stations, so loot deposited at one station can be collected at any other. The developer introduced it because limited inventory space was forcing players to spend too much time managing their hold in the early game and sometimes to discard resources. It is the simplest way to bank a haul before a long trip. See Space Stations.
Base Storage
A base stores solid goods in warehouses, which are also the hubs that route drones work from. The Basic Warehouse was joined by an Advanced Warehouse in Community Update #1, and a Basic Warehouse can be upgraded into the Advanced version in place without dismantling it. Every storage interface now has Add All and Add All Existing buttons, and the Warehouse and Drone Dispatcher both gained a Take All button in July 2026.
Property | Basic Warehouse | Advanced Warehouse |
|---|---|---|
Unlock | Early base building | Tech Level 3 |
Storage capacity | 2,000 SU | 5,000 SU |
Route drones | 5 | 12 |
2 (reduced from 3 in September 2026) | 3 (preview figure, not restated in the patch note) | |
Workshop connection | Not described | Direct: crafting pulls what it needs from the warehouse automatically |
Per-item limits | Not described | Set a maximum stored amount per item to specialise the warehouse |
Cost | Not published | The preview listed 40 Stainless Plate, 12 Structural Beam, 40 Concrete and 3 Microchip; check the build menu |
Two other base containers have published behaviour. The Micro Furnace, the small early smelting building, gained ten times its previous storage capacity in the same update so it stays useful before larger production buildings unlock. The Drone Dispatcher no longer costs any footprint. See Automation and Logistics for how routes use these buildings and Crafting for the queue that draws on them.
Corporation Storage
A Corporation has shared storage that automated Shuttles can deliver into. A July 2026 patch fixed Shuttles getting stuck when the Corporation Storage they were delivering to was already at capacity, which is a useful reminder that shared storage fills faster than personal storage when several members feed it. Corporations also own shared bases and ships on top of each member's own, currently capped at 12 of each. See Corporations and Co-Op.
Liquid Storage
Liquids are stored separately from solids. On a ship they sit in tanks, each holding a single liquid type, so carrying Water and Sulfuric Acid together means two tanks; Medium Tanks, a larger option, are unlocked through the Liquid Logistics permit since Community Update #1. On a base they sit in cisterns, which are automatically connected to each other, transfer to and from a ship through the Landing Pad, and since the same update accept liquid filters. Automated Shuttles cannot carry liquids at all, so moving them between bases means bottling them at a Bottling Plant or flying them yourself. See Liquid Resources.
What Is Not Published
No cargo hold catalogue, no tank or cistern capacity, and no cost for the Advanced Warehouse beyond the preview figure have been published. A Company Warehouse and a Local Intelligence Center are named in a September 18, 2026 hotfix that fixed a soft-lock involving them, but nothing else about either has been released, so this page does not describe them. Balancing is ongoing, so treat every number above as current for the build it came from. See Updates and Patch Notes.
