Overview

Spinotrodes are cone-tipped Reactor devices that convert Silverium into electricity. They form the backbone of Silvernia's electrical grid and are the primary means by which the city's infrastructure is powered.

Function

Spinotrodes channel raw Silverium through a Reactor mechanism, converting the mystical element's energy into usable electrical power. This technology is what enabled Silvernia's rapid industrialization, transforming the city from a modest settlement into a global metropolis. The electrical grid powered by Spinotrodes runs Silvernia's transportation systems, lighting, clockwork utilities, and factory machinery.

Connection to Gameplay

The same Reactor technology that powers Silvernia's grid also powers the combat abilities of playable characters. Every character channels their elemental powers through a personal Reactor device, making Spinotrodes the civilian-scale version of the same technology that fuels the game's combat system.

Maintenance and the Kaboom Team

The crews who physically maintain the Spinotrode network are the Kaboom Team, led by the technician Captain Kaboom. Official material describes them as being like a hive of industrious bees, buzzing tirelessly around Silvernia's Spinotrodes. They are children without a home who work and live as a crew, and who value each other's company above the milk and coins they are paid.

The team's shared motto doubles as a safety procedure for working on live Silverium reactors: "Mind for shocks, check the cables; keep things clean, activate once stable!" The sequence it describes, guarding against discharge, inspecting the cabling, clearing the housing and only then bringing the unit back online, is the clearest indication available of how a Spinotrode is serviced.

That the grid depends on informal crews of homeless children, rather than on a municipal utility or the corporate owners of the Silverium supply, says a good deal about how Silvernia distributes both its labour and its risk.

Lore Significance

Control over Spinotrode infrastructure means control over Silvernia's power supply. This makes energy infrastructure a point of conflict between the city's factions. Whoever controls the Silverium supply chain and the Spinotrode network effectively controls the city's ability to function.
