Exploration is the middle of the voyage loop in Sea of Remnants. Once a ship leaves Orbtopia, the stated intent is that you roam freely across open water, land on whatever island is on the horizon, and bring back whatever you can carry. Seas are described as unpredictable, with dynamic weather that can turn a calm sky into a storm that splits the heavens.
The Seas

Sea | Description |
|---|---|
White Sea | An easy, unhurried stretch of water where people find themselves humming without meaning to. The mood is attributed to sunlight that never fades. |
Bridge Sea | Newcomers are warned to stay sharp here. Beyond its strange and vivid plant life there is a heavy Talon presence, and the Talon appear to be up to something. |
A third body of water, the Sea of Remnants itself, sits behind the story rather than on the map. Legend places it beyond the moon as a place where all questions are answered, and first party copy says nobody has proven it exists. A 2026 gameplay showcase suggested viewers might catch a glimpse of it. See Story and Setting.
Islands
Islands named so far span several biomes. Descriptions cover volcanic, jungle and sun-bleached terrain, along with eerie ruins and strange tribal grounds.
Island | What is known |
|---|---|
Echo Isle | The setting for most of a 20 minute playable demo shown in August 2026, which ended in an encounter with the Mermaid Morian. |
Cove Island | Sun-scorched shores, featured in a 2026 gameplay showcase. |
Crazyleaves Isle | Rain-soaked jungle, featured in the same showcase. |
Statue Island | Featured in the extended version of the 2026 showcase. |
Bridge Island | Featured in the extended version of the 2026 showcase. Presumably related to the Bridge Sea, though no link has been stated. |
Two further place names have been mentioned in passing. Port Op and Broke Dockyard were referred to as locations that alpha testers remember, with Broke Dockyard described as where they first set sail. Neither has been described further.
Ruins
Ruins are singled out as a deliberate content type rather than scenery. A 2026 showcase described them as intricate and crafted for the bold, and earlier copy described long-lost ruins shaped by the memory currents of sailors past. That ties them directly to the game's memory systems.
Memory Currents
The world is stitched together by glowing magenta currents described as the accumulated memories of past voyages. They are said to link every island, every sea monster lair and every distant port, and recruiting crew is described as happening through them. They are also the mechanism by which ruins are said to take shape.
What You Bring Back
Extraction is the point of going out. Treasure is guarded by the creatures that roam the water, and the loop ends with hauling it back to Orbtopia to spend. Loot handling, transport and a large collection catalogue were all visible in a demo build, though none has been described in a first party announcement. See Gameplay and Sea Monsters.
