Crewmates are the core of a run in Sea of Remnants. Companions are recruited from rival factions rather than hired from a single pool, and the number planned has grown across announcements: more than 300 characters at the June 2025 reveal, and more than 400 companions by June 2026. Ten crewmates have been published on the official character list so far, two of them being the player character.
Published Crewmates
Name | Epithet | Fleet | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
Unnamed | Voyager | The player character. You may not know where you came from, but now you have a ship. Two versions are listed. | |
R.S | R.S | Drift Bottle | An adventurer from Orbtopia, a lively girl with a love for sailing and treasure hunting. |
Molly | Dreamweaver | Ranbo | The quietest member of the Ranbo band, a tailor who finds inspiration in her dreams. |
Julius | Hatchet | Black Baron | A refined and gentle youth of the Black Baron, with a ruthless side hidden beneath. |
Maurice | The Iron Fist | Dawnbreaker | The commander of the Dawnbreaker, a leader who treats his soldiers like his own. |
Seamourn | Elder Sister | The Revenant | A dancer of The Revenant who speaks softly, even when her words turn unsettling. |
Haig | Smiley | Ranbo | The Ranbo Band's unhinged musician, and a back-alley doctor who puts people on edge. |
Hilda | The Stray Cat | Wanderer | The lookout aboard the Wanderer. Whatever you do, do not try to take her food. |
Isabella | Beauty | Wanderer | An information broker aboard the Wanderer. If the price is right, she can get you any information you need. |
The information broker is spelled Isabella on the official character list and Isabelle in the August 2026 development letter. Both spellings are first party.
The Player Character
The player character is one of the puppetfolk, called a Voyager, and is presented as player-created. They wake with no memory, barely speak, and are bound to the Drift Bottle. Two entries appear on the official list, both with their names withheld, which is consistent with a character creator offering more than one starting appearance.
R.S
R.S is the companion who accompanies the player from the beginning and functions as the game's mascot. She is an adventurer out of Orbtopia, energetic and obsessed with treasure, and she carries the dialogue that the near-silent player character does not. Her own character trailer sets out a three-step treasure hunting method: grab the chest first regardless of who owns it, open it by any means, and leave immediately for the next one.
First party copy separately describes the player being accompanied by a mysterious girl. R.S has not been identified as that character, and the two should not be assumed to be the same.
The Ranbo Band
Ranbo is both a fleet and Orbtopia's best known band. Its performing lineup was credited on a 2026 gameplay showcase.
Member | Role |
|---|---|
Gale | Vocals |
Molly | Bass |
Haig | Keys |
Cook | Drums |
Gale and Cook have not otherwise appeared on the official character list. The band performed a new song at gamescom in August 2026.
Attributes
Each published crewmate is tagged with one of six attribute icons on the official character list. The English site renders these as icons only rather than as words, so the six categories are known to exist but their English names have not been published. Crewmates are also tagged with a fleet, which is how the roster above is organised.
Recruitment and Bonds
Companions are described as being met across rival factions and invited aboard, with the stated goal of building bonds with each of them so that they become part of a larger story. Recruiting is tied to the magenta memory currents that link the world. Between voyages, crew classes and builds can be reconfigured, and crew members can be trained in professions that unlock skills. A crew favour system was visible in a demo build but has not been described. See Gameplay and Combat.
