This happened because the Hero King's biological children (true to Rekon nature) abandoned the kingdom to pursue their personal Callings. The humans who took over ruled the Arajit Kingdom for centuries, and by the era of the novels, the memory of the Hero King's reign has become legend.

1313 Humans have a particularly dark relationship with the Nhaga. In the novels, humans are known to hunt and eat Nhaga: a practice that makes cross-racial cooperation almost impossible. The human member of the novel's escort party is specifically described as a Nhaga hunter. Humans also maintain complex relationships with Rekon and Tokkebi, driven more by pragmatism and self-interest than mutual respect.
