Overview

Machop is a Fighting-type Pokemon that can be befriended in Pokemon Pokopia. It is one of the exclusive Pokemon found only in Palette Town. Machop has the Gather specialty, which allows it to collect nearby materials from Community Boxes, making it a helpful assistant for large building projects.

Gather Specialty

The Gather specialty allows Machop to automatically collect materials from Community Boxes in its vicinity and bring them to a central location. This saves time when you are working on large construction projects that require many different materials from scattered storage points. Machop handles the material transportation so you can focus on building.

Location

Machop is exclusive to Palette Town, the game's sandbox area accessible from the western edge of Withered Wasteland. You cannot find Machop in any of the four story areas or on Dream Islands. To unlock Palette Town, you need the Rock Smash ability and enough blocks to build a bridge across the gap on the western path.

How to Befriend

Create the appropriate habitat in Palette Town to attract Machop. Check the Habitat Dex at any Pokemon Center PC for the specific habitat requirements. Since Machop is a Fighting-type, its habitat likely involves strength-themed or rocky environment elements.

Connection to Machoke

Machop is the pre-evolution of Machoke, which teaches Ditto the Strength transformation in Rocky Ridges. While Pokemon do not evolve in Pokopia in the traditional sense, both Machop and Machoke can be befriended independently. Machoke has the Build and Bulldoze specialties, while Machop has Gather.

Tips

Place Machop near your main building area in Palette Town. Since Palette Town is the game's freeform sandbox with no story constraints, Machop's Gather specialty becomes especially useful for ambitious building projects where you need to move large quantities of materials. Pair Machop with Pokemon that have complementary specialties like Build or Engineer for efficient construction workflows.
